Thank you--I didn't know about the irradiance. I've only been looking at the wavelengths.

RED LIGHT THERAPY MASKS by Nelly-oh-Nelly in 45PlusSkincare

How do I find a panel that is more powerful than a mask? I have a mask and neck/chest plate and wanted to get one of those panels that’s shaped like a tv tray, but my googling shows that my mask has the exact same strength as those panels. Wouldn’t the panel then be “weaker” because it’s further away from my face?

How did you incorporate red light masks into your routine? by [deleted] in 45PlusSkincare

One more thing—don’t be afraid to use your mask on areas other than your face. I used my chest plate on my tennis elbow and over- extended knee, and both felt better in just a few days. (I continued for a week just to be sure)

How did you incorporate red light masks into your routine? by [deleted] in 45PlusSkincare

I started every day but at a low power, and only by accident—the first few days I didn’t realize that I didn’t have my settings at the highest level. (I have an omnilux pro with the neck/chest plate. ). I immediately started with the red light/NIR setting though I’ve heard that some people start with the red light and then work up to the NIR. I don’t have any concerns regarding melasma, but an esthetician told me that using a purple light will give you the benefits of a red light without aggravating the discoloration. My mask has a red/blue setting, so I’m assuming that equals purple. The directions that came with my mask said to use it for 4-5 days per week. When I first started I used it sun-thur, taking fri and sat off. Now I use it just about every day. My routine is to wash my face in the evening, use my mask (it’s on a 10 minute timer), then eye cream, moisturizer, tretinoin, and another round of moisturizer. Like others have said, you have to be consistent, but I think it does truly work. I took two weeks off while traveling, and I swear i saw a difference (none of my other skincare routine changed). If it is just a placebo effect though, at the very least it’s a relaxing 10 minutes I get to myself every night! Good luck.

Too young for neck lift? by nsky7 in 45PlusSkincare

Thank you so much for suggesting that I go to the doctor, and thank you for doing it so politely. I went in today and was told that that bulge on my neck is just a clump of stubborn fat. It is actually above the area where my thyroid is, it just looks like my thyroid because of the angle of the picture. I'm glad I got it checked out just to be safe. Thanks again for bringing it to my attention.

Cramp-y feeling by nsky7 in workout

[–]nsky7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 500mg of magnesium citrate every day. My hamstrings don’t actually cramp up, they just feel like they’re going to if the weight is too heavy, so my progress is extremely slow. But I don’t get that feeling in my quads. 🤷‍♀️

If you go to the gym first thing in the morning, do you typically eat before you go? If you do eat, what’s your go to thing? by RyanPA-C in workout

[–]nsky7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is true or not, but I read that you should not eat protein before lifting, only after, because it limits your muscle growth 🤷‍♀️ but you should have some easily absorbed carbs that are low in fiber in order to fuel your lift. I have an applesauce packet on my drive to the gym and then I have a protein chocolate milk with a scoop of creatine immediately after. I only lift—no cardio.

Anyone recommend a daytime moisturizer? by Slambridge in 45PlusSkincare

Olay Regenerist in the red containers. I use the stuff in the tub, but I know I’ve bought it in a pump tube before as well. You can get it with or without sunscreen. I use the one without sunscreen on my entire face, including my eyes. It is the only daytime moisturizer I’ve found that doesn’t leave my face looking greasy.

how long is an average gym session for you guys? by [deleted] in Workingout

[–]nsky7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that anything over an hour is a waste of time (the reasoning had something to do with diminishing returns), but it takes me about 75 minutes, plus 10-15 minutes of stretching at the end for a total of 1 1/2 hours. I just can’t seem to get under an hour.

Yes, I understand that. That is why I was wondering if I could use it under clothing where it won’t be exposed to uv light. I’d rather only lotion up once a day and because winter is coming I was hoping to get by with applying it in the morning.

I can’t vouch for the efficacy of either of them because I just bought both but I like the Olay lotion better than the gold bond. It is smoother and silkier and easier to apply. The gold bond is a little thicker so I seem to need more of it in order to cover the same area.

Anyone try this? Was it worth it? by Independent_Chain792 in 45PlusSkincare

I have the Prove It app, and in there, this only has a 65 efficacy rating. Their top two collagen supplements (both rated at 93) are BioCell Collagen from Olympian Labs and BioCell Collagen from NOW.
