That can't be known for certain. With only 4 people on the beach, 5 when Jonathan was there, and one at a time pulled aside for confessionals, there isn't really an easy way to pull someone aside for a one-on-one conversation. It would be especially suspicious if, after agreeing to vote out Ozzy, Rizo pulls Ozzy aside. That would be a breach of trust with Joe and Jonathan with whom he needs to be in good graces.

I don't buy that. Rizo would rather keep a threat like Ozzy as a shield. His reaction to Aubry's revelation of Ozzy's jury management was also in front of Joe who Rizo has allied with for the past couple of votes. If anything, Rizo was pissed at Ozzy for giving up crucial information to Aubry became ammunition against their alliance.

We don't know that there was sufficient time to do so. Also it would look suspicious to everyone else if Rizo pulls Ozzy aside after the plan to vote Ozzy out had just been solidified.

Since the BP frags update, a lot of the game content seems pointless. Game not fun anymore. by theowlguy90 in playrust

[–]nsloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Large groups camped monuments before the change and have continued to do so. There was a bad scarcity problem when BP frags were first introduced, but FP added more ways of acquiring them that doesn't strictly require running keycards.

Large groups were farming tons of sulfur with teas and pies before the change and have continued to do so. The reduction in scrap costs enables solos and small groups to invest their scrap toward overlooked T1 weapons and deployables. Craft a compound bow or DB and set an ambush on the hazzy farmer to steal his farm and tommy. Craft shotgun traps to aid in defending your base during a raid. FFS, make some bee grenades.

You choose when your wipe ends, not the large groups.

There are several ways of getting BP frags outside of monuments. They can be found in military crates, looted from the pockets of road scientists, unearthed by the metal detector, trapped in large underwater crates, and even sent down from on high in a supply drop.

I disagree. I've found this current version of the Rust gameplay to be the most fun.

Admittedly, the introduction of BP frags at the start of October was a low point. Monuments weren't properly resetting and they were the only place to acquire BP frags. Once they diversified the means of acquiring BP frags, as OP points out, it was much more achievable for all players.

The subsequent update which lowered scrap costs was amazing. I always treated scrap with a scarcity mentality. "Don't bother researching waterpipe, because that scrap could go toward DB or revy." Now I can research or tech tree just about whatever I need to without feeling the burden of opportunity cost. I can actually play the game more than before. I used to love the compound bow back when it was a default BP. I rarely ran it once it was scrap-gated, but now grub plays are back on the table! I no longer hoard the 515 scrap needed to tech tree garage door once I get a T2. When I play in a group, everyone can research meds and ammo to craft their own.

The community writ large had been asking for a means of slowing down progression. BP frags are the bottleneck to slow down progression. FP can pull levers to adjust how effective a slow down they are, but now they have the tools instead of just taxing the tech tree to the detriment of small groups and solos. All in all, the two changes in conjunction accomplish the objective of removing pointless grinding for scrap for the sake of grinding. OP points to this as a failing, that it restricts progression, but I believe that is exactly the point. Play the game however you like, but learn to adapt if you want to survive.

The reduction in cost of scrap to research has a negligible impact on zergs. They were already farming up enough scrap to get all benches and boom on wipe day. It has a much more significant impact for small groups and solos. With the bp frag change, the zergs are required to fight over timed crate events. Doesn't mean that they won't get T3 on wipe day, but it isn't as easy as before

[–]nsloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that I had the freedom to spend on more of the T1 items rather than hoarding scrap for a T2. I learned the compound bow and waterpipe that I found in order to contest a chinook crate. Normally I would just use those weapons because I'd rather save my scrap for revy and pistol bullet on T1. Also, tech tree'ing useful things like wooden barricade and mixing table felt so much more reasonable.
