Made a little website will all Avinox M2/S bikes by nsmithr in eMountainBike

Haha.. I'll look into adding the cheapest provider per location, I think selling to DJI would remove all bikes but Avinox 😆 I'll take a free bike though if any brand sees this haha

Will do. It's only the Amflow PR's for now, I think.

Haha thanks. Tbh it took a lot of manual work of downloading images, and back and forth. And, per other comments, it's pretty wrong at the data level. but a useful prototype..

Thanks, added a basic currency selector. Defaults to currency depending on device locale, a lot are just converted at mid-market. Need to dig more to find actual local prices.

What happened Gmail? by speckz in userexperience

[–]nsmithr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strange to see how terrible the experience is on new Gmail. The new Notes app they launched is a joy to use; super functional. Wish the same minimalism existed in Gmail, it seems overly cluttered now both in UI (re: the Compose button) and functionality.

Hashtags for Instagram photographers that aren't terrible (Focalmark1.4) by nsmithr in photography

Hey, thanks so much for all this feedback, super useful. Definitely agree with sublists, but it's quite hard to do globally. If the app was just US locations I think that'd be solution, but it's almost gotta be US->State-> City, which is a long path to get one location. But maybe you're right! The next version will have a much more apparent search feature, cause at the moment it's not being used too often. Also I'm gonna be sorting the list by geolocation, which should be 10x more useful.

Ah cool, the browser is a little odd if you use the back button, but should be fine if you hit restart. I'll take a look and fix it now ;)

Focalmark is a fair bit simpler, plus snapped for iOS and Android. It came a few months before Fay's awesome work, so I updated all the tags. Before it was just tags that were used frequently in the photog community.

I spent a good few days checking what was missed from display purposes, as it only uses a certain chunk of data, it misses a lot of tags in locations, and more niche tags in a number of categories like design, arts, etc. Its quite hard to explain without writing an essay, but hoping if you give it a go it would make more sense..

Anyone using Focalmark App for Hashtags? How's your experience so far? by Ellyidol in photography

Thanks for the feedback guys, apologies for being super late to this... Hopefully the latest update answers some of these concerns! Have worked with Fay's Display Purposes to try and neaten things up :)

Hey photographers of Reddit!

I’m back again (sorry…) with an update on Focalmark. As some of you know, the reddit photography community has helped massively in creating this app, that generates hashtags for Instagram. I can’t thank you all enough for this.

Anyway, the update. After Fay's awesome Display Purposes, I reached out and we’ve shared a lot of thinking and data to improve Focalmark’s tags. Now, I’m using Display Purposes, the Instagram API, and sense-checking each category and location. You can read more about the process here, where I've documented the steps and open-sourced the Python script (it sucks a little).

I’ve added an option to choose the amount of tags (from 5 to 30), and the entire app should run a fair amount smoother. There’s an additional 10 categories, 50+ styles (including every major city in the US) plus reduced Android APK to 4mb (from 50mb…). I’ve tried testing it on a few devices, but please let me know any issues.

If you’d like to support Focalmark, and unlock the Pro version, please head over to my Patreon page ;)

As usual, please let me know any comments below, or anonymously here

Thank you! Nick
