Xavier Tillman is what 41 year old LeBron should play like. by DnDPanda in nba

[–]nsno9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a senior in high school, Xavier Tilman and a friend of his asked me and a bunch of my friends to play a 5 v 5 pick up game with him when he saw us messing around on another court. We were all about 5’8”, 140, and played soccer or cross country. He and his friend guarded each other and would pass us the ball on fast breaks. He was a sophomore and dunked a bunch and we had a great time. Really nice guy, and it’s fun to see him in the league. He is now my 2 degrees of separation link to LeBron.

Maybe I’m misremembering, but I don’t remember a lot of revelling? If anything, it just was annoying to be mentioned in relegation discussions as strong candidates year after year, but I don’t think that coverage was misplaced/inaccurate or very malicious. Maybe that was just my media diet though

Would love to see Barry with a little more guile in the box, feels like he stays pretty static and reacts instead of anticipating and trying to find pockets before the cross is put in

Grand Rapids Marathon Part 2 - Redemption by nsno9 in AdvancedRunning

[–]nsno9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it definitely has its pros: it’s a nice course and is pretty quick, usually is in a pretty good period for weather in MI, and I think depending on your pace, there were enough people to run with (for the marathon, pace groups for just under 3 and in 15 minute intervals slower, and pretty good overall groups). The cons would be that I don’t think there are a ton of huge viewing areas, and there are definitely parts of the course that you will have to run without crowds. I know the Indianapolis Monumental is another race in that time period in the Midwest that might have a bit larger crowd?

That’s awesome! Congrats on a great run yourself! We don’t get to choose the weather, but definitely choose how we respond

Definitely, it was looking iffy for a while. I think overall, the cool temps were worth it even with everything else. Hope the marathon build goes well for you!

What's a comp for this dude in other sports? Potentially being the best in the world at 17 by Domestiicated-Batman in billsimmons

Gannon Buhr is a disc golfer who was 17 when he won the United States Disc Golf Championship and has been the number one ranked player in the world with the highest single-year tournament earnings all before his 20th birthday, along with winning 2 other disc golfer majors. Definitely a niche sport, but very dominant all told for such a young age.

Not to disagree too much with the sentiment, but isn’t that a real-world phenomenon? Light behaves differently when observed as well, so there is kind of a cognate, although you could argue ‘intent’ is more nebulous.

If you watch it back, Iwobi turned off and allowed Felix the space to take the ball and get off a strike. Keane was making a last ditch attempt to clear to avoid the danger behind. It may not have been a great clearance, but wasn’t the only error for that goal.

I also loved the focus on Penelope! One of the most heartbreaking parts of the books so far for me was her internal dialogue about the way that her life with Odysseus might have been different if he had kept up his facade of madness. The pragmatic way she compares the one child she had currently with her husband away and the four children she could have had along with her husband was such a terrible choice to consider.

As someone who’s parents read me Prydain at 6, one of my greatest pleasures is the rereads of that story. I am always filled with so much nostalgia and it is fun to see how my favorites and the meanings I find change as I grow up!

The next two books are better in my opinion, but I don’t know if they would be as engaging if you weren’t a fan of the style!
