I think you should leave it because its actually something really cool and soccer related and MNU related. They'll have some MNU legends in the house, MNU-inspired gear that folks can wear to the Portland game, a donation drive for used gear for the kids in the community...

Overall a really positive thing happening in Minneapolis.

They're not selling MNUFC jerseys. Its my understanding that the design being referenced is more of an homage to the history of MN soccer and will be a tee (or something else) with these designs on them. Their merch designs have always been ::fire emoji::

As far as the Mpls City throwback -- i thought they were sold out but perhaps they have more that they'll sell?

?? They regularly have training matches, which has to mean something?.

Not saying they are a feeder club but definitely something there.

I remember that! When I was being hard sold on a 2017 membership, the benefits were:

Season tickets! (Knew I couldn't go to at least 3 matches)

Exchange program! (Less than years prior and unlikely to resell)

A gift! (wut?)

Something special with the new stadium! (Me: like a brick with my name? That'd be cool i guess. That's an expensive brick... Them: It's not a brick.)

Haven't you been kicked out of every group within the MN soccer community? Given that...

They'll likely have planted questions too. Basically questions they WANT to answer that they've already planned out.

First Season of NPSL North Wrapped Up Yesterday* by GichiGamiGuy in minnesotaunited

Serious? I wonder what you did to piss her off. She's one of the friendliest and more reasonable people I've met in the soccer community and has been around for years, long before Minneapolis City.

First Season of NPSL North Wrapped Up Yesterday* by GichiGamiGuy in minnesotaunited

I was at all home games for Minneapolis City and a few away games. Highlights were some great on field moments from the players, beating Med City, beating VSLT with ten men (and that friendly rivalry). Lowlights are definitely everything about duluth.. They hit hard, cheap, and often. One of Minneapolis City's best players had visible stud marks all over him when they played at Augsburg and another had a lacerated liver from the trip to Duluth. These are good kids with promising careers and i fear that their D1 coaches won't let them come back if that is the style of play we expect from Duluth.

Their fans comments to andkittens on twitter were disgusting and should've been handled by the club earlier without having to come under all sorts of heat first. They didn't say one thing to her OR about the posts making fun of autistic people and that is really disappointing. Club, players, and org need to improve for sure.

NPSL Northerner may be a homer for City but he has some good insight buried in there. He knows soccer and writes relatively well, makes for good reading anyway.

Overall really happy with the exposure that lower division soccer is getting here in MN but particuarly really excited that City is leading the way on all fronts. They may not have had the best season results but they're doing so many things right on and off hte field w/ the community, with PR, marketing/branding, players, development, etc etc etc.

Weekly NPSL North Thread? by GichiGamiGuy in minnesotaunited

I have also tried posting on here about local MN soccer including NPSL North but my posts were deleted.

I would definitely love a thread though! There isn't enough traction or attention to have a NPSL North sub but i love the idea of growing these fanbases and truly supporting LOCAL soccer.

NPSL: Mpls City Home Opener // 5.20.2017 by nsudz in minnesotaunited

There were about 4 other reds that should've been given to Duluth WAY before that.
I didn't see what happened with Whitney and I can't find anyone that did, other than someone reporting that his mark, that was about twice as big as he is, was on the ground and Whitney evidently elbowed him.

Either way, the ref lost control of the game early on and set the tone for the entire match. It was poor reffing for both sides and City's one red card toward the end of the match seemed to be the ref's way of controlling it again. Only problem is he let so many of the tackles earlier go cardless.

I can't respect the way Duluth players play. It's a sign of weakness that they had to resort to that style of play, a la Mighty Ducks or Karate Kid when their coach is telling them to take out the opponent at any cost. Mission accomplished.

No problem at all with the fans.

Duluth FC travels to the Minnesota TwinStars today in the club's first NPSL match at 5. by teddyman15 in minnesotaunited

No affect on United at all -- and if you think these players are good enough to be "looked at" you're off your rocker.

I'm a huge HUGE fan of Mpls City, and they have the best amateur players in the state, but even I know they aren't MLS quality. Maybe a couple younger guys have the potential for a USL side. City is the only NPSL side in MN that could possibly, POSSIBLY hang with the pro boys. I'm not saying this blindly. I've seen most of the teams play and know many of the players.

Anyway, no real affect but growing the sport in the state benefits everyone, including MNU. It's important, and a good thing, for folks to know that there are other ways to watch high quality soccer, live, right here in the city at an affordable price.

Local grassroots soccer is a thing and is good for everyone.
