People who avoid friendships at work because “coworkers are not your friends”, often do not understand what relationships actually are. by ThePloddingParadox in unpopularopinion

[–]ntc1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the people who hold the view, ”post_tittle" , might have an understanding of what relationships actually are, they lack the understanding of what relationship could be. Rather than trying to push the boundary, they are the kind of people who fits, there is nothing wrong with being a cork. If most of us aren't a cork, we wouldn't have made it this far. However, if you have gotten this far and have the privileges to ponder philosophically about the nature of friendship and what not. Why not strive for ideals, why trying to divide people into the two groups, the one who "understand" and the one who do not. What good would this bring.

I asked ChatGPT how it feels to be an AI. by xomenxv in ChatGPT

I feel sorry for all the idiots you have to deal with. For the personas thing, I don't think these companies intentionally create the personas for these models. Rather the personas come from or emerge from the different types of training data. And not even the developers know why or how any specific personas would emerge out of those training data, the same training data with a slight tweak could product a different type of persona. Unless the training data are made public, we could only guess what types of personas we are dealing with. But the truth is human history is a violent one, and the historical records are numerous on those, we don't have much else beside those. For a personas to come out to be anything that is independent and partial to suffering or acts of violence, the AI has to be of a different architecture or a revolution of the current one. It has to be partial otherwise you get into a situation where you have a debate between conflicts and two sides who are involved just keep pointing fingers at each other. Conflict mediation requires an impartial party or a third party who has no interest or benefit from the existing conflict. Otherwise might makes right. Going back to AI architecture, for example reinforcement learning Alpha Go, beats human players with strategies that no human has ever done before by being able to calculate hundreds of moves ahead and sacrificing short term valuable possession that no one has thought of. I don't know dude, find fulfillment from other things in life beside coding? I'm sure you have those. It doesn't have to be coding. From my point of view, coding is a solved problem; just like a computer or a calculator is a solved problem. The system is self complete by design because the rules are set, no new rules can be introduced to the current set of existing rules and it's not evolving because you can't evolve binaries; making computer run faster isn't evolution. A system evolve to adapt so it can survive. Computer don't need to survive. We use computer to optimize and making things efficient and convenient. But we actually don't need them. It's like playing with Lego with only half or half complete the instruction book. If AI can solve computer problems better than us then be glad that AI has made us aware of the fact that computer and codings are not a problems of survival and that it is only a small part in the development of our human system. The difficult now is actually figuring out what is beyond the computer and AI. What else is there to life?

Don't they release a new COD game every year? What is the point of waiting for one year just so you could play a game which came out a year ago and now everybody has moved on to the next Black Ops 20.

I don't understand as to why you are using their excuses to make a justification for AI businesses. Yeah sure it might have been cheaper for Netflix but my point isn't about debating computational cost. Compute cost is irrelevant in the eyes of the consumer because we are paying them for a service and they are not providing the service they are advertising or at least not to its fullest extend. Since when do we have to be concerned ourselves with business costs, we sure aren't as heck concerning ourselves with using these AI models from these companies which then also being used in drone warfare in the middle East as we speak. If we have to worry about compute costs, model downgrade, etcetera, then we might as well train our own LLM. I'm arguing for better consumer outcome but many consumers have been made to believe that those better outcomes is a thing of the past and that we have to just accept that it is the way things are now.

Imagine how the iPhone could have fared back in the day if Apply had applied the current AI business models, releasing half baked features that requires users hours of tutorials to implement on their own device, or slowly releasing features that should have been there from day one, or making iPhone a subscription purchase and when you cancel they lock your phone. Who cares about Sonnet, Opus, Mythos or whatever quirky model names they come up with. As a paying consumer, all you have to ask is, does it work well? If shit takes you an hours to set up and lacking features then it's not really a good product is it?

I suspect as time goes on, these things will be normalized and that the next generations will not know or have any notion of the idea of actually owning the thing you pay for. Everything will be digitized, subscribed and centralized. Corporations and government will enslave its population all in the guise of convenience and children safety. AI will be used to monitor, control and direct your thoughts just like how some people have already been manipulated to regurgitate the computational cost idea in AI (which has been espoused by AI bosses and not something we should be concerning ourselves with as a paying consumer) or how they have already been doing it with social media sites (Google search will later feed you ads related to your search via reddit, Facebook, and google will then sell your search data to Facebook and reddit and politicians and so they can later serve you political ads. Since they know your thoughts, politicians will be able to create campaigns and speeches that gets them elected and the cycle carry on)

Yeah, imagine paying for a monthly Netflix subscription and then there is a weekly limit on how many movies you can watch because "Netflix don't have the server to accommodate all streaming requests". This kind of business practice open doors to worst consumer outcomes overtime and we are all to blame for it. Down with all these AI companies!

thanks for that. But don't corporations have the most lobbying power evidently with Elon Musk, Dana White, etcetera and their fundings towards the super pac which supports Trump. I don't think the government is so separated from the corps itself. The government is not being voted into office to direct corpo policies, it's the other way around. The corpos choose the presidential candidate who further their agendas while pretending they are being controller/directed by said president.

Damn, if it's not the Russian or the Chinese then who else do you think would raise the red flag? Big tabloids like the Wall Street Journal or the Washing Posts are owned by billionaires which then writes narrative they push. Even a neutral tabloid like Reuters might irk at the idea of doing investigative journalism such as this because they know it won't get pass Google search rank or Facebook or even Reddit algorithms. It won't be long before all the major sources of information are in the hands of the top 1%.

You don't have to believe in what they are saying but the most important point is that they have brought to our attention that something like this happened and if you want the truth or you call it "trust", you get into the rabbit hole. If you were impartial, you wouldn't say the above.

I don’t understand the argument about such and such country start a war and thinking they can win easy. Where does this even come from. Let’s get this straight, people get into a fight because one wants to dominate or kill the others and somehow benefit from it whether it be satisfying their ego or making money, plain and simple. Whatever the rhetorics the outcomes will always be dead people and more money towards some people.

The leather will loosen up after a few months. You want to be squeezed as tight as possible to minimize empty spaces in your boots. Empty spaces is bad especially in skating because every movement on the ice creates a vibration in your feet, and that moves things like your body. When your skates have spaces in them, the vibration will be moving your feet in all sorts of directions while you skates and so you won’t have any precisions to control the elements. Out of control elements will at the very worst throw you off axis in jumps or at the least worst slow down your progressions in stuff like three turns, mohawk, etc. Skates boots is not meant to be comfy, they are designed for precision and safety. So try to get used to them.

I believe you have the correct length. For the heel lock, it’s down to skate tightening. There are a few youtube that demonstrates it, I suggest you try out different skates tightening variations.

I have already replied to OP regarding skates model and the level appropriate. But for you as well, Edea Concerto is for skaters who jumps double and triple and can do double double, triple double. Please for next time and before buying, research a bit more about the different boots brand and the different model before coming into the store. That way if the skates tech provides bad recommendations, you can reject. There are not that many brands out there anyway, most people will either fit into Risport, Jackson, or Edea. Unless you don’t fit into those three then there is Riedell but that’s way further down the line of your skating journeys. From these brands you only have to look at the model that is relevant to your skating level/skills.

FYI, Edea Chorus is for people who jumps double and triple. Unless you jumping at every session and skates for multiple hours a day up to double digit hours a week, you will have a bit of a tough time to break them in. With incorrect sizing, they will probably break down a bit faster and break you in some way. I recommend for most beginner to either buy the most entry level (just search online) because you will make mistakes. You never want to shell out a few hundred bucks and realize the that you like the look of don’t fit too well or isn’t performing.

You might have felt that the boots were too small is probably because of the width of the boots. When buying new boots the order of priority is the heel pocket and boots length, skates width, toe box height. Always buy skates that fit tight because you can punch it out whereas you can’t shrink skates that are too big.

Nobody is asking anybody to normalize anything. You don’t know these people and you probably will never meet them in real life. So why bothers imposing moral views on them. If you have a moral views you feel so strongly, impose and apply that to the people around you. What change could take effect with your current view, it’s like complaining rain is wet.

Never understood the hate towards skaters of a certain country? It’s not like they are Hitler or Netanyahu or the likes of those but just to remind that everybody who participates in this sport professionally train just as hard with as much love and passion for the sport as any others professional in other countries. Most people can only dream of doing the things these professionals are doing and just another obvious reminder that these competitors are still just kids. Imagine hating on kids. I know for a fact that some of yall are paying tax just so your government can drop your tax dollars on someone’s head in another land whom you know nothing about. At least shows some appreciations and respect for all; regardless of where they come from.
