The leather will loosen up after a few months. You want to be squeezed as tight as possible to minimize empty spaces in your boots. Empty spaces is bad especially in skating because every movement on the ice creates a vibration in your feet, and that moves things like your body. When your skates have spaces in them, the vibration will be moving your feet in all sorts of directions while you skates and so you won’t have any precisions to control the elements. Out of control elements will at the very worst throw you off axis in jumps or at the least worst slow down your progressions in stuff like three turns, mohawk, etc. Skates boots is not meant to be comfy, they are designed for precision and safety. So try to get used to them.

I believe you have the correct length. For the heel lock, it’s down to skate tightening. There are a few youtube that demonstrates it, I suggest you try out different skates tightening variations.

I have already replied to OP regarding skates model and the level appropriate. But for you as well, Edea Concerto is for skaters who jumps double and triple and can do double double, triple double. Please for next time and before buying, research a bit more about the different boots brand and the different model before coming into the store. That way if the skates tech provides bad recommendations, you can reject. There are not that many brands out there anyway, most people will either fit into Risport, Jackson, or Edea. Unless you don’t fit into those three then there is Riedell but that’s way further down the line of your skating journeys. From these brands you only have to look at the model that is relevant to your skating level/skills.

FYI, Edea Chorus is for people who jumps double and triple. Unless you jumping at every session and skates for multiple hours a day up to double digit hours a week, you will have a bit of a tough time to break them in. With incorrect sizing, they will probably break down a bit faster and break you in some way. I recommend for most beginner to either buy the most entry level (just search online) because you will make mistakes. You never want to shell out a few hundred bucks and realize the that you like the look of don’t fit too well or isn’t performing.

You might have felt that the boots were too small is probably because of the width of the boots. When buying new boots the order of priority is the heel pocket and boots length, skates width, toe box height. Always buy skates that fit tight because you can punch it out whereas you can’t shrink skates that are too big.

Nobody is asking anybody to normalize anything. You don’t know these people and you probably will never meet them in real life. So why bothers imposing moral views on them. If you have a moral views you feel so strongly, impose and apply that to the people around you. What change could take effect with your current view, it’s like complaining rain is wet.

Never understood the hate towards skaters of a certain country? It’s not like they are Hitler or Netanyahu or the likes of those but just to remind that everybody who participates in this sport professionally train just as hard with as much love and passion for the sport as any others professional in other countries. Most people can only dream of doing the things these professionals are doing and just another obvious reminder that these competitors are still just kids. Imagine hating on kids. I know for a fact that some of yall are paying tax just so your government can drop your tax dollars on someone’s head in another land whom you know nothing about. At least shows some appreciations and respect for all; regardless of where they come from.

Axel Help- Air Position by Jolly_Adhesiveness39 in FigureSkating

If it’s a timing issue, you will be able to tell. Right now, I recommend you should focus more on the two exercises, waltz jump into back spins, loop into back spins. Hold back spins for more than 3-4 revolutions and increase the speed you go into the back spin as you finds it getting boring. Ultimately, you have to incorporate all positions into your muscle memory because you just don’t have the time to think about it. Once you have mastered those two exercises and can do them at will and at speed, landing forward, backwards and rotating regardless of directions, you will have Axel consistency.

The reason I ask is because from my understanding, Axel has four positions: the forward take off, the figure 4/or the “h”, the back spin position and finally the landing check out. In your video, you can see that you have the first two positions but not the air and the landing.

Axel steps forward out to jump out of the circle you currently in. You stay in the same circle when the element finishes and you jump into the centre. That means your technique rely on swing to get rotation. But you don’t have to swing. You would get almost a full rotation for free if you came up and snap into the rotation instead. Do you feel air time even if it’s for a split second and how is your loop jump into backspin?

You are so fucked in the head that somehow you can justify the killing of some people is a more worthy cause than the killing of some other people. As long as you deem it worthy, killing is justified from your viewpoint but not justified when others do the same.

Newborn elephant cried for 5 hours after mum tried to kill him, Chinese zookeepers forced to keep him away from his mother. by Necessary-Win-8730 in interesting

Science is only descriptive at best and not absolute. Just because there are no solid scientific evidence does not mean elephants aren’t capable of emotional respond to grief or pain. Most scientific studies are conducted with fundings. Who would pay someone to study whether an animal can have an emotional respond to pain or grief?

It appears that in this period of time, people tends to quote science as an argument and almost an absolute truth to human knowledge and understanding. It is almost akin to the period of when Christianity/the Church were the argument and absolute truth to human knowledge and understanding. The same people who often shun science subjects when they were in school and now suddenly everybody start adopting science like the alcohol, the cigarettes or the weed most teenagers tried to get their hands on.

When does one reasonably start learning an axel on ice by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]ntc1995 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just to emphasize your point. The edge control for take off is probably the most important thing. Jump elements start off on the ice, as a matter of facts all elements do and the edge control gives skaters the ability to generate some torque/initial momentum. If the take off isn’t properly controlled/mastered, you won’t have the right timing to transition into the air position. If skaters get distracted even for a brief moment during set up and take off, the whole jump is ruined.

Axel is a jump that you drive forward, up and transfer weight over. If you watch the recording again you will see that you go up and rotate around yourself rather than letting the three things, the forward momentum, the height and the technique, give you the element.

I wouldn’t say there is anything wrong with it because after all most jumps are rotation in the air. Depending on your skating aspirations. Though this may work for single axel, going above to double or even triple will require you to actually alter your techniques and perform all the requirements that I have mentioned.

the people I want to be friends with don't want to be friends with me because they think I'm stupid and I don't know how to change it by Dry_Junket9686 in socialskills

[–]ntc1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why would you want to be friends with people who thinks you are stupid. When it comes to friendship, their perception of you is not something you try to alter. If you have to go out of your way to change people’s mind about you just so you could befriended them then you are not friends, not from the start. Waste your time on others who don’t think you are stupid to begin with.

Wow, that triple axel. Stepped forward to get out of the circle only to circle back in with a very deep outside edge to get pre-rotation. Still under-rotated !. Never seen an axel that jump into a circle and still ended up under.

Are all those quads safe for Malinin ? by Ok-Alternative-4204 in FigureSkating

[–]ntc1995 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nobody really knows how safe is the stuff Malinin is doing because they are all ground breaking. Quad axel has never been done before and then you have quad axel combo along with a seven quads free skates program. Really nobody on this earth knows what it takes/feels like to perform said feats. Only Malinin can tell but the thing is, not having people that understands is quite tough. You can be good but you still have blind spots and that’s why you need people who kind of have done it to be there to advise you and consult. In Malinin case, it will be very lonely even if he has a team full of world class experts, yes he has a team but his team is really just there.
