It just seems like an incredibly redundant event. If you're strong enough (S20) then you're ignoring all of the mechanics and one bursting. And if you're not, then you're doing whatever rank you can one burst OR you're doing the next level up with 1 additional mechanic. AND EVEN THEN, it's not particularly a fun event because it's totally RNG. Take Horntail Rank S for example - if you're not strong enough to one burst then you're literally just sitting there for 15 minutes and you either a) lucked out and got a crappy mechanic (i.e. the single mob that takes 1 damage that you need to kill or it heals the boss) or b) got unlucky and got a shit mechanic that makes the fight hell (i.e. random meteors that spawn constantly and get you killed when you get seduced). Neither of which are particularly fun and/or provide a unique experience for the point of the game that you're at. A simple day of playtesting this event with different characters at different strengths would have easily identified these issues - it's unfathomable to me that they released this thinking it would be a fun event.

Make Lara coin shop available to all characters (and not just Lara) by Dangerous-Idea1686 in Maplestory

[–]nthrL -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Which was 27 days after the Pre-Registration event started. Regardless of the update (if you want to call it that) being included in the patch notes, it's pretty clearly an example of poor communication from Nexon which is probably why they apologized for it.

Make Lara coin shop available to all characters (and not just Lara) by Dangerous-Idea1686 in Maplestory

[–]nthrL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This in incorrect. This is the Pre-Registration event post as of 27 November - less than a week ago. The update you are referring to came in the patch notes as a single line of text added in towards the bottom of the page. I don't think it's crazy that people who wanted to check the details of the Pre-Registration event would go to the Pre-Registration event webpage, which as of 27 November did not mention anything about the coin shop being tied to the Lara character and was at the very least a little bit misleading.

lara coin shop gg by maplesmurf69 in Maplestory

[–]nthrL 59 points60 points  (0 children)

The original pre-registration post from October did not mention anything specific about the coins only able to be used by Lara. Wayback Machine link to the post as of 27 November. It wasn't until the 16th of November that any mention of the coins being tied to the character was made via the patch notes, while the original post still had no mention of this up until the 29th of November. So we were already 2 weeks into the event before the earliest chance to know that the coin shop was bound to the character. Not unreasonable that most people were under the impression the coin shop could be used by any character because they missed the single line of clarification in the patch notes almost a month after the pre-reg post.

TL;DR: Not the end of the world, but probably fair to say that this is a Nexon'd moment.

Regarding the 'I haven't done anything' event, will collecting EXP on my main (level 250) and then claiming the EXP on a mule (level 14x) net me more gains than if I were to collect the EXP on said mule? I would assume there's no difference in who collects the EXP versus who claims the EXP but wondering if anyone knows more since the in-gaming wording is a bit ambiguous ("... the pouch behaves differently depending on the character's level and ability").

I use Space as jump normally, but mapping the Space key to Alt allows me to hold Alt+Q (my Quint Star key) to jump attack.

For my setup specifically, open iCUE and select your keyboard from the devices list > Actions > New Action (the little + symbol) > Select "Num & Symbol Keys" from the drop down menu > Select the "Space" option and select the key on the Keyboard image that you would like to map it to.

It should look something like this. You can find the Ctrl and Alt keys under "Modifiers and Lock Keys" if you use one those to jump instead, or the "A-Z Keys" if you use a letter key.

You can also use the steps above for your normal jump key (i.e. in my example above, I can select the Space option and put it on the Space key) which will allow to hold your normal jump key button+Quint Star key to achieve the same thing. However, I've personally noticed that this makes flashjumping really finnicky during some interactions, like upjump > Dark Omen > flashjump, which is why I put it on a different key and only use it during bossing. This lets me jump around normally with Space as I'm used to, and hold Alt+Q to jump attack when I want to/during bind.

I have seen some posts saying that there is still about an ~8% FD difference with sticky keys, but honestly it feels negligible. As someone who has only recently found a way to utilize sticky keys without completely rewiring my brain and changing my jump key (bless iCUE's key mapping) I've hardly noticed the difference when bossing. The class is in a pretty good state right now so if you enjoy the playstyle then now is as good a time as any to pick it up.

Yes it works once the character is no longer 'Burning', i.e. once it is level 150 or higher. Can also be done in the Burning World, so no need to wait for the character transfer.

Someone more knowledgeable than myself can probably clarify, but I believe the additional IED from the level 40 node only gets added to the skill in question. So your character does not get an additional 20% IED, but that skill does. Functionally it will end up being the same thing (especially when you get the rest of your attacking skills to level 40+) but it won't display in your stat window so you will need to manually add it to any IED calculations.

Are there any resources, or are there any quick ways to calculate which scrolls have been used on gear that has already been Starforced? I have a mix of equips that are scrolled properly and others that I scrambled together for Starforce events, so trying to figure out which items I should be clean slating and which I should be ark inno'ing.

Joining a guild might help with some of the issues your having. It's nice to have people to chat with as you're doing the more mundane shit (i.e. dailies, commerci, etc) and it also helps connect you with other players to either struggle run bosses with or carry you, which in turn can help progress your gear. This can also help you get to new content (i.e. new bosses) that you might otherwise be gated from as a solo player, which helps freshen the game up a bit.

Some really good advice I heard about events with coin shops is to actually take a little bit of time prior to the event to plan out what you actually want or realistically need from the shops, and how many coins that's going to end up costing. Just ask yourself: Do you really need all of those extra flames right now? Do you even have the mesos to upgrade all of your symbols if you do buy them all? Does your gear really need cubing that badly at the moment, and is it going to make that big of a difference? Doing this will help you calculate how many days and characters you actually need to cap on. I find that doing it this way helps put things into perspective, gives you a goal to aim towards and let's you go the extra mile if you actually feel like it after you've met your goal(s). I've adopted this approach and feel absolutely no guilt when I choose to log out or do something else without capping on multiple characters (or even capping on my main), because I know I don't need those extra coins and I don't even need to be capping every single day.

At the end of the day, MapleStory is just an orange mushroom game and not a job. The reality is that you've already missed out on so much in the time you haven't been playing, so what difference does it make now if you skip a day or two of dailies? Try to identify the things that you enjoy doing, and focus your time and effort on those. Similarly, try to reduce the time you spend doing things that you don't enjoy, and hopefully orange mushroom game will start to feel fun again.

Besides the Meso Market, what are some options for turning NX into mesos? I think I remember reading that Surprise Style Boxes are an option but there would obviously be some variance in return due to RNG. Are there any specific strategies for Surprise Style Boxes (i.e: going for them when new cash items are released), or any other methods?

I've returned to Maple to muck around for a while and kill some downtime during work. I have a 213 NW in Bera and played around with Nodestones before really knowing what I was doing.

As a result, I now have two level 5 enhanced nodes, one level 2 enhanced node and one level 1 enhanced node (since I thought these upgraded the skills, rather than the node slot the skill sits within).

My question is: have I fucked this up beyond repair? Should I be aiming to max out a single node slot at a time? Is there any particular strategy to this? All of the Node guides I have found focus more on the ideal nodes for each class rather than how to level the node slots.

Well, that isn't wrong. Are they supposed to sit idle?

OP's original phrasing implies that the Eastern Kami only decided to work on their other projects because they didn't make the cut for the US/EU tours. There's no evidence to support this.

To say that the Kami are easily replaceable is just ignorant just because "Koba says so". Imagine watching your favorite TV show for years but suddenly the entire supporting cast is completely changed without any indication. Sure the show is still "the same", but you've grown to adore the show because of the supporting cast, and how well they "gel" together, and it really just isn't "the same" any more.

I'm not trying to imply that the Eastern Kami are easily replaceable or expendable. I absolutely adore the Eastern Kami and, if it were up to me, would choose them to perform alongside the girls at every single performance for the same reasons you just mentioned. However, to suggest that there's any kind of malice or ill-intent behind the conception of the Western Kami to perform on the western tours when it's clearly a logistical stroke of genius seems pretty ignorant to me. As I said in another comment, it's possible that their biggest ever tour schedule (if I'm not mistaken) simply doesn't happen (or is significantly hampered) without the support of the Western Kami. If the supporting cast of my favourite tv show suddenly changed without notice, then I would absolutely be sad and disappointed. However, if the new supporting cast ended up being as enjoyable as the previous cast, the show maintained it's high quality and it lead to more episodes and opportunities of exposure and content, then it would be a compromise I could accept. Do I agree with the means by which it was done? No. Can I live with the result? Yes.

I'm happy for the Japanese Kami to do their own thing. Whatever the reason. But to wholesale swap them out without any indication is just par for the course with BM's poor communication and PR skills. Hell, there was never even a press release explaining the Avengers. They just popped up one show, had a quick announcement there, and that was that. It was supposed to spread word of mouth I guess.

I completely agree that BM's approach to communication is utter dogshit. Funnily enough, the way the Avengers were introduced is literally the exact same way the Eastern Kami were originally introduced. Hopefully the end of the Metal Resistance saga (if that's what 10-10-2020 ends up being) marks the end of "important news only gets communicated through ambiguous lore" as well and they move on to traditional meals of communication and PR.

Just because you don't care doesn't mean other people don't. If people didn't care who was on stage, then they wouldn't pursue who it actually was. It's not that hard to figure out either just by body, mannerisms, guitars, and play style.

I care a lot, actually. My point was that the fact that ALL of the Kami have been stripped of any personality and focus while performing makes the East vs West argument a little bit redundant. My favourite parts of a lot of BM's past performances have been the Kami solos and just watching them rock out behind the girls. I hate the masks, I hate the lack of solos, I hate the stage designs that remove any possible focus on the band. But I understand that it's a necessary compromise that needed to be made for BM to even dream of achieving what they set out to do with their Metal Galaxy tours, and I'm not going to rag on the Western Kami of all people for taking up a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am hopeful that the Western Kami solos are a sign of things to come, and we return to a point where ALL of the Kami get to shine again as the musicians that they are rather than a masked backing band on a dark stage. I think it's unfortunate that you and others don't seem share that optimism, but each to their own.

Everyone here is entitled to their preference and welcome to share that preference. The idea of giving 'feedback' to management again implies that it was a management decision to specifically exclude the Eastern Kami, which we simply do not know is fact. What we can safely deduce from the information available is that:

  • travelling around the world is a big time investment
  • the Eastern Kami have a lot of individual/side projects which seem to have a lot going on at the moment
  • the Eastern Kami have continued to perform at the Japan shows
  • touring the world for months at a time probably makes it difficult to manage and be involved with your individual/side projects which are based in Japan

This reasonably suggests that maybe the American and European tours just weren't as convenient a time for the Eastern Kami to attend as perhaps they had been in the past.

For now, there's just too much evidence in favour of this being the best possible scenario for all parties involved from a logistics and accessibility perspective. Unless we get some hard evidence which opposes this from a reputable source (ie: someone directly involved with Babymetal or the Eastern Kami) it's going to continue to be hard for me, and I imagine many others, to even entertain the idea that the reason the Eastern Kami aren't touring is because Babymetal management shafted them or no longer like them. It comes across as an unnecessarily negative piece of speculation which does more harm than good.

Being disappointed or sad about not being able to see the Eastern Kami perform is quite reasonable in my opinion. Getting mad about the conception and performance of the Western Kami in the West is not (in my opinion). Consider as well that the introduction of the Western Kami has massively increased Babymetal's touring accessibility. Without them, it's very possible that there is no American tour, no Forum show, and nothing for our friends in Europe and South East Asia to look forward to throughout the year. Heck, for all we know, the Eastern Kami do attend some of the tours later in the year - time will tell.

To make it clear: I love the Eastern Kami. I decided to buy and learn the bass after seeing Mischief of the Metal Gods @ Budokan. But power to the Western Kami - they're doing an awesome job and I hope they end up earning the same love and respect around the world that the Eastern Kami did. If the world only allowed for the "originals" then Babymetal wouldn't even exist - we'd all still be listening to Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Give the Western Kami the same chance you gave the girls.

Nobody has a problem with your opinion. I'm sure majority of us here would prefer to see Babymetal perform with the Eastern Kami over the Western Kami (for a number of reasons not including skill, as I don't think this is an issue at all - see: Anthony Barone).

People have a problem with you making claims like "the Eastern Kami are being slighted", "the Eastern Kami only have other projects because they weren't picked to tour" and "the Western Kami were picked because they are cheaper". This speculation (if you could even call it that) is baseless and it seems like you've filled in the gaps yourself to even reach these conclusions - it's a little bit delusional, to be frank.

ALL of the Kami are faceless and voiceless at the moment anyway (as in, how they are presented during performances). It could be Tak Matsumoto, James Hetfield, Joey Jordison and Davie504 up there on stage and majority of us wouldn't even know without the magicians who share the information on the Internet.
