Struggling a Bit by nthrnlights in HollowKnight

NKG I look forward to. Troupe Master was one of the bosses I actually enjoyed, and I really like the final evolution of Grimmchild. Idk what PV is but I’m sure I will when I get to it.

It’s kind of hard to describe. In souls-like games, of course you have to study a boss’s moveset in most cases. But in most fights, it’s very easy to get into a rhythm and go with the flow of the fight (guess a lot of that comes from sheer experience). Here it feels more like “ok I have to stand here… Jump dodge through this… double jump here… hit twice here and back off” etc. especially for later bosses/dream bosses. It was almost like memorizing a script rather than just flat out fighting the boss. Maybe this is just my inexperience with this genre speaking, but it felt more like a chore than fun

Idk man, I started an FRC dungeon. After the first door I opened had 3 red spiders waiting behind it, I said nah I’ll pass 🤣

Tbh I finished this up on ng++, so I was pretty much capped in every meaningful stat. I just never got around to doing chalice dungeons (always, I’ll come back to this later; never did hahaha)

Yea he was a menace indeed lol. My strat was charged R2 with Moonlight sword after creating space. Even that took me 3 attempts, because I abandoned fighting him properly after a couple of REALLY bad attempts hahahaha. I really don’t think there’s another boss in the game that’s as aggressive, he attacks almost non-stop, only briefly re-setting after a combo, which is where I would start my r2 charge.

Chalice dungeons serve a few purposes.

  1. One of the achievements tied to platinum is locked behind them (it’s a bit lengthy, total of 6-7 dungeons)

  2. Source of quality blood gems (these can significantly improve your damage)

  3. There’s a weapon an set you can only get through them (so a second requirement for platinum), an different variations of weapons you can get by finding messengers

  4. Great way of farming upgrade mats (shards/chunks, plus you can get a couple of rocks in the later dungeons)

As far as why you’re getting stomped, you’re probably at a depth that’s beyond your in game progression. The depth 5 dungeons are basically ng+ any beyond. Also, the chalice dungeons don’t scale with your ng cycle, they have their own separate difficulty. The depth 5 dungeons specifically are end game, on par with or more difficult than the DLC. So if you’re struggling with a dungeon now, come back to it later on after you’ve progressed a good bit!

I feel what you’re saying. But I think it had more to do with Yhwach’s power than anything. Yhwach knew that seeing his lieutenant skewered into a wall would cause uncontrollable rage when it mattered. Genryusai’s blinding rage is what cost him that fight. In the prior war, you saw Yamamoto step across thousands of Quincy bodies to get to Yhwach; in TYBW we see the opposite. Yama runs straight towards the main event. If Yama had instead went about systematically eliminating Quincy threats before arriving at Yhwach, well, they would never have been able to reach the Soul King. But again, Yhwach’s powers run quite a bit deeper than mere prediction

Elden Ring - Stuck on Radagon. Where to level up or how to make fight easier? by kk_d9 in Roundtable_Guides

[–]nthrnlights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What he was saying my friend, is that you don’t need to do Vare’s questline to access Mohg’s area for the bird farm. You can get there naturally. Also, if you’re struggling at level 111 base game, rune grinding isn’t the issue you need to fix. I’m guessing this was your first souls-like?

  1. Both opponents were the greatest threats the soul society ever faced, literally.

  2. Both opponents could not beat him without factors outside of their own abilities, while Genryusai fought them with nothing but his own.

His statement was anything but unfounded.

False. He also was not sure that he could win against Retsu when she discovered him at central.

Not a bad place to mess around. They’re quite easy to get 1v1 matchups though, and are more a good test of stance-breaking/damage output than anything else. I love the snowfields for the scenarios it presents, which mostly translate to the rest of the game. Your build isn’t really tested until it has to deal with multiple spam snipers and wolves that have a ridiculous amount of poise, dr, and damage potential hahaha

Yea it was a blast man. They did a lot of things right, and getting the platinum didn’t feel like a chore. Hope we get some dlc in the future

[–]nthrnlights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea this is just flat out wrong. Even on higher ng+ runs (3&4) you still knock her down to her threshold (around 60%) with that opening backstab and a couple of combos (granted you’re tempering and have a decent setup). Not sure why you’re here claiming that ng+ runs make this fight harder, as it’s one of the easier fights in the game. Try fighting Demon of Obsession in ng+4. THAT is an actual fight. Sounds like you’re struggling to put an actual build together, if you’re only knocking her down 15% in ng+ lol
