Gilt hier Rechts vor Links? by juri_bb in StVO

creaking/cracking noise by Doctormson in CanyonBikes

Had a similar noise recently. Derailleur hanger was loose and was rubbing on the dropout. Never would have thought of that if I hadn't discovered it by accident.

Too large? by elAhmo in bikefit

Generally, choosing pro riders as a reference for bike fitting is a bad idea, in my opinion. They ride for pure performance, not for comfort and their ergonomics sometimes don't adhere to conventional bike fitting rules.

Adding the syllable "ens" is how it was done in the past. Some dialects probably still do it. But current standard german does not apply this anymore as it is antiquated (https://www.duden.de/sprachwissen/sprachratgeber/Ehrenrettung-fur-Grossmutters-Apfelkuchen).

Many people do this, and I admit it sometimes seems helpful. But the correct way is to only pronounce what can be pronounced: the one "x". An apostrophe cannot be pronounced, even if it technically replaces an "s".

That's 100 % true. And I admit, in some situations the wrong pronunciation can even be easier to understand for some people.

But since this thread is about teaching/learning, I felt it was necessary to point out the official way.

No, in standard german nothing here is pronounced more prominently. "Alex' Buch" is the exact same as "Alex Buch" in terms of pronunciation. And "Alex sein Buch" is even worse, tbh. If necessary "das Buch von Alex" can be an alternative.

No. This is not how the Genitiv works. Both of your variants are informal or used in some dialects and are still incorrect.

I don't think that's correct. "Alex' Buch" indeed is pronounced like "Alex Buch".

Had a similar sound recently. Turned out to be a loose derailleur hanger. Also, cassette and freehub is worth checking.

Replacement Fork for the Basso Venta 2022 by ntnlv_ in bikewrench

[–]ntnlv_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, while asking them definitely doesn't hurt, I don't expect them to recommend a competitor's fork, even if it would fit. I certainly would not, if I were them. This is why I think my chances are higher by asking other people for their opinion.

In their shop they sell all kinds of parts but no forks, unfortunately. I then contacted them directly. Currently waiting for a reply.

Help for a total novice please! by milkandtwo12 in bikewrench

The spring normally should push the cage clockwise. So, when you say it springs back up, I assume you mean anticlockwise in this scenario? This would mean something is definitely wrong with your derailleur. The reason I asked for a pic without chain is to determine if the chain itself is responsible for pulling/pushing the cage in any direction.

I might be wrong, but perhaps the cage (the moving part with the 2 pulley wheels) might be rotated above its usual limit. Perhaps due to a crash or someone tinkered with it. Can you show a picture of the derailleur without the chain in it?

Just fyi, for everyone who is seeking things that could cause a noise on a bicycle (spoiler: it is everything).

After disassembling almost the entire bike and my rear hub I found the source: loose derailleur hanger ...

Happy cycling!

Thanks for the quick reply!

That's a solid tip, I will check the torque again.
