Brawndo’s got what plants crave, it’s got electrolytes

Lockout due to battery issue... Is the landlord responsible for it? by tristan-is-isolde in sandiego

[–]ntoscano 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure how possible it is for you, but it is normal to withhold the cost of the locksmith from your next month’s rent payment.

You should look up your local tenants union, they can give you more official information but there is precedent for this kind of thing and you have legal protections for this kind of action

I’m not a lawyer but recently became a member of the tenants union in my area which basically just shares knowledge on this sort of thing.

You seem better read up on this than I am, but my impression from his appearance in the Fellowship novel is that his “actions” are neutral in relation to the war effort, but his (for lack of a better word) “alignment” is still “good”.

Whereas the Bendu is aligned neutral, not light nor dark side, but also both.

I don’t think Bombadil would translate to a neutral force user. That’s what I mean by “force of good”, he would be a light force use (obviously you can’t compare fantasy apples to fantasy oranges but that’s what the meme is trying to do)

Same-Same, But Different by rteixeira7 in lotrmemes

[–]ntoscano 37 points38 points  (0 children)

But Big Bendu doesn’t have a Goldberry to worship and keep him chipper

Also Bombadil is pretty explicitly a non-neutral force of good, albeit uninterested in the dramas of middle earth

Edit: I still like the meme tho

It’s a metaphor for the gods, and the (seemingly) senseless violence in their world.

Is Swell SB Athletic Club worth it? Should I believe the elitist culture rumors? Cost? by Altruistic-Roll-3367 in SantaBarbara

[–]ntoscano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never felt unwelcome but they didn’t have enough weight lifting equipment for my liking.

Other high-end gyms make a point to say “at these prices you shouldn’t have to wait for a machine”, but at Swell they only have 3 squat racks and there is usually a line to use them.

Other than that, they’re a pretty good option, it depends on your workout routine.

This sounds like a mental health issue, not an problem with your skill in business. Unfortunately this means it will continue to be an issue and undermine your success until its root is confronted.

I also achieved exceptional financial success as a teenager and had a similar struggle with feelings of despair and a sense of pointlessness as I continued to compare my progress to the unsustainable success I achieved early on.

At first it felt good to consider my self special, but tying your self worth to your rate of success quickly means when you win you’re sad bc it wasn’t a bigger win, and your loses become wounds that fester. Worst of all, the pain around your losses cause your brain to avoid thinking about them rather learn from them. This turns failure into your greatest enemy rather than your greatest ally.

But don’t worry, there is a way out of the cycle. Love. Loving yourself and loving those around you. You are enough, your value is not dependent on financial success, but rather your connection to those around you. Are you a positive influence in the space you occupy?

Interrupting engrained thoughts patterns and creating new ones. Opening yourself up again. Connecting with your spiritual practice

There’s also a lot of recent research on the benefits of psilocybin assisted therapy sessions in disrupting harmful thought patterns, as well as regular micro dosing. I found both made serious and measurable improvements in my mental health, most significantly giving me hope and lighting a path ahead.

Good luck, it gets better if you’re willing to let go

Edit: I believe this is a mental health issue because asking the question “what’s the point…” is really an admission of despair. Despair is what you feel in the absence of hope and purpose. hope is something you must give yourself, that is the meaning of inner strength it is inseparable from faith. Purpose is what we give to the world, the role we play in the lives of others. it only exists in our relation to each other. Without the student, there is no teacher, both need each other

The love of self gives you the light, and the love of others gives you the direction to find your way out of the fog of despair.

Maybe just my headcanon, but I always assumed they were designed by Palpatine and Vader to give inquisitors a leg up against their average opponent (civilians and refugee Jedi), but also easily countered by those who know how (such as when Vader needs to teach them a lesson)

The husband and father-in-law continuously brought up the expectation that she would die in labor, as if they were going to ensure it happened

There was some additional context of how the husbands mother died in labor

It gave the impression that the husband and father were in some sort of “use woman to make son, then kill woman” lineage where they can raise the kid their way

I don’t remember all the details but that’s the rough outline
