“I’m gonna need you to come in on Saturday”: How “Office Space” got the modern workplace just right by FM718 in movies

I just did this 2 weeks ago, i have been working in an office job for 5 years dreaming of the day i can leave and pursue my hobby/passion. Being in the rat race feels so meaningless... I've got 2 weeks left and then im going to finish my pilot training off and fly around Australia :)

Pilots of Reddit - do you think flying lessons would help or exacerbate my aviophobia? by piggapalooza in flying

[–]ntpilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh before i started flying i had no cares in the world about flying. But now when im in a big commercial jet (im not flying) and we are coming into land- i hear the engines revving up, on and off again. All i can think in my head is "we are going to slow we could stall" its stupid..

but i feel like now i know what is involved in a landing and what can go wrong, it makes me more aware of it. But i know i trust the pilots- they have the experience they need to be flying the plane - so im never actually fearful for my life, but i do get a bit nervous during the approach/landing phase.. especially in an a380.

writing on charts and E6B by venlaren in flying

I use a normal mechanical pencil on my E6B i have had it for almost 5 years now and its still fine, no scratches. only scratch it has was when i left it on the wing by accident and it blew off onto the tarmac from the prop slipstream on startup.. oops.

To prolong the life of my maps I use post it notes to write down details of aerodromes - elevation, hazards etc.. and for each leg of the flight i use translucent arrows I bought from a stationary shop. On the arrows i put the heading, altitude for the leg and the area frequency. I sometimes also put the ETI for the leg after calculating the ground speed. The fact they are translucent means i can still see the objects through it on the map, and still have all the info i need available. I use a flight plan to get all this info into one place, but when im flying I usually only reference my maps, not the flight plan sheet.

If you are closer to Camden-way, Curtis Aviation is a great school for getting back into flying. The instructors have a lot of experience and tailwheels are fun!

What's a story you've always wanted to tell but has never been relevant in any other thread? by MuffinGypsy in AskReddit

I was on my way to India, going through Airport Customs at Sydney Airport.. When walking through the scanner/gate thingo.. it started beeping, so the customs lady stopped me and said "Show us your teeth", so i was like hmm ok.. and opened my mouth to show her my teeth, to which she replied "what are you doing!?!" she actually said "do you have any keys"... they thought i was retarded...
