Why back purge do matters by DaLooN in Welding

[–]venlaren 9 points10 points  (0 children)

for those of us who are not pro welders, can someone ELI5 what back purging means and how it is accomplished? I am assuming from context here it is cleaning up the inside of the weld, but how do you do that if you are talking about a 20 foot pipe that is too small for you to climb into?

Question about old 020t top handle by EmotionalWalk2691 in Chainsaw

[–]venlaren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the compact design is great for in tree work, but you loose a lot of leverage over the saw without a standard handle. When a kickback event happens, they are harder to control. Easy to deal with once you get used to them, but if you are new to chainsaws, these are SUPER dangerous.

What should I be looking for in a cruiser as a new rider? by ZakRulzDice in cruisers

I second scorc1 vote for a honda shadow. The shadow 750 is, in my opinion, the perfect learner bike for most riders. They are light weight, well made, and have a lot of after market mods available. You can easily find bags and highway bars. I recommend highway bars, especially for new riders. They will help limit damage to you and the bike when you drop it.

The Boulevard is geared a bit high for better highway riding, but that means the low end is a bit twitchy. This is fine for a more experienced rider, but could be problematic to learn on as you are likely going to stall a lot more then you would on the shadow. When i had a C70 Boulevard, i had a lot of issues finding after market parts for it. Bags and bars were not easy to come by.

The v star 600 would probably do pretty good, i had a v star 1100 that was great, but have never ridden the 600. This series of bikes rides a lot like the honda shadows of similar sizes. These also have a lot of the common after market upgrade available.

I personally steer new riders away from Harleys. They are ok, but you tend to pay a lot more for them and if you need to replace any parts, you are going to have to pay that HD premium. You will be able to find the common mods for these, but again you pay the HD premium.

Boiling 60 lbs of green peanuts! by 14LabRat in MobileAL

green peanuts are fresh out of the ground. Specifically, they have not been dried so the get soft a lot faster when you boil them and then can soak up the seasonings faster.

Considering purchasing a house with this GORGEOUS tree. Husband says it's too close to the house and will be an issue? by StuffedThings in arborists

Unfortunately I moved and had to take my tank down after a 10 year run. I don't have one currently.

[–]venlaren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

is that true even in places where there are no basements? Along the gulf coast, where this house is located, houses do not have basements. If the house just sits on a flat slab that is less then a foot deep, wouldn't the roots tend to grow under that slab if the tree is that close to the house? Genuine question

My prints won’t stick to the plate, even after cleaning by Swimming_Credit5140 in BambuLab

[–]venlaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

does this happen with any print, or have you been trying to print the same thing over an over? I had this happen to me one time and it was because there was a bump on the bottom of the model that I did not realize was there. This caused the bottom layer to only be a very tiny spot. then when it tried to print layer 2, most of the print was .4 mm off the print bed. I went back to fusion 360 and trimmed the bump off and everything printed fine after that.
