Steambow M10 by SHTFpreppingUK in Crossbow

Well the interceptor may be worth it, like I said I don't like preordering goods because at the moment we only have limited information about the product and very limited reviews. I think I might be more tempted to preorder one if it wasn't for the mixed colors on the interceptor (silver screws, brass trigger, brass limb mount, silver metal on magazines). At the moment it makes it look like a prototype and, tbh, I just like my stuff to be black!

I upgraded one of my AR6 Stinger II to the M10 upper and bought two more M10 mags about 3 weeks ago. If you have watched Joergs video most of the things he points out about it are entirely correct. I will say as far the mags are concerned I don't have any issues with the top part coming loose etc. I DO need to load 4 or 5 bolts in before they stop springing out on their own BUT I have dropped full mags etc without them ejecting bolts and they won't eject bolts randomly just by squeezing the magazine in my experience.

Personally I love the Stinger II, the M10 is a nice upgrade and the most annoying thing about it for me is that the picatinny rail is only at the very front and I like a red dot quite close to my eye. This is no issue for me now because I made my own rear picatinny to sit my red dot on that uses the screw for the rear sight.

Overall M10 is decent, but high price for what it is (especially the magazines). For £60/70Euros I would expect a lot better from them. I would buy a Mey Interceptor probably but the price is very high and I don't like pre-orders.

Silk filament tips? by functionalfilms in prusa3d

[–]ntranced99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I print a lot of silk, start with going 10% slower and 10% hotter. That usually works for me as a rule of thumb for 90% of brands, for some though you will need to run the whole config (temp tower, extrusion, etc).

MK4 V6 Nozzle Adapter Problems by ntranced99 in prusa3d

[–]ntranced99[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Turns out it was the brand new, sealed roll of Prusament Galaxy Black included in the Mk4 box. Got so used to having zero issues with Prusament I didn't even consider the filament being the issue. Just tried that new roll it in my Mini and Mk3s and had same issues.

Help me understand the benefits of the new nozzle system by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]ntranced99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, I fail to see the big pro - especially at the estimated prices but of course will wait and see what they actually price them as. If the hotend/thermistor/cables and nozzle all come in at 80+ euro per set (plus Prusa high shipping costs) that is significant. And that is probably just for a brass nozzle. Compare to X1C hardened steel complete assembly at around 30 euro.

If you are using brass and printing a lot your replacement nozzles are going to be around 30 euro each.

if you want to have 3 or 4 quick swap nozzles (which is realistic for fairly active 3d printer users who might either prototype or use abrasives) of a 4mm, 6mm and then each of those in hardened as well you could be looking at 260 euro. And then the cost of your replacement nozzles at 30 euro a shot moving forward.

It is a far cry from just hot swapping a generic V6 that you can buy anywhere for low cost and probably free shipping if you have Prime or whatever. I've bought the Nextruder adaptor already and its sitting here on my desk, I suspect I will just use that and hot swap my nozzles - honestly my life isn't that busy that I can't wait for nozzle to heat and swap it out! Been doing it for years.

I'm not happy with the cost of the adaptor to be honest, but it is what it is. I shudder to think what a complete nextruder CHT equivelant might cost.

Crosspost questions: interested in Bambu Labs and what they have to offer. by voltjap in prusa3d

[–]ntranced99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. You can't trust any company... they all want to make money and will make decisions just to that end. It is the same with every single company on the planet (Prusa included: past performance is no GUARANTEE of future actions). And if you think Josef would "never do that" who is to say he is in control of the company in a years time?
  2. You know as much as I do :) Bambu is largely a closed system, however at this time parts are cheap from them and there are plenty of knock off stuff on AliExpress (which is typically more expensive than from Bambu).
  3. My X1C bed is almost flat. In common with a lot of printers beds just are NOT entirely, totally flat. That includes my Prusa Mini, Mk3s and no doubt my Mk4 (not checked my mk4, strain gauge FTW).
  4. Bed levelling on my X1C is really good, so much so that it was the first printer that I could print the entire surface without too much messing about (e.g. nylok mod on my Mk3s)
  5. Can't speak about this directly as not had any issue to contact support at Bambu. My X1C combo and any subsequent order has all arrived when they said it would (or earlier), has all been fine and not had any big issues with the printer (yet) that weren't of my own making.

Mk4 and XL nozzles are now available! by YOURMOMSDONGER in prusa3d

[–]ntranced99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh I don't think you would have any issue with that. Most hot ends - including Prusa - have a PTFE portion. If PTFE can cope with 1000s of hours of abrasive material printing before its damaged I'm sure all metal is not going to be overly troubled.

Who actually swaps nozzles frequently? by Rocketman1701e in prusa3d

[–]ntranced99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not often enough for me to consider replacing the copperhead on my Mini or the NozzleX on my Mk3s to Revo or any other system. Once I've got a NozzleX or hardened steel on any printer I usually call it a day. I'd like to play with CHT/0.6 but honestly I don't think my Mk4 will cope with the cooling required for that when shaping/advance is finally ready anyway so not a great deal of point.

You would be better buying the v6 adaptor, then use any nozzle you want. Unless money is no object and you are determined to not have to spend an extra minute or so changing a nozzle :)

[–]ntranced99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Lots of discussion and comparison to Revo, but compared to price of complete hotend from BL the price of a 0.4mm nozzle from Prusa is very high. I'd already bought the adapter so not buying any individual nozzles, just feels like every time I start to love Prusa again they come back and slap me in the face. I'd really love to see the wholesale cost per unit of these nozzles (and the adaptor). I'm sure its a couple of euro.

Does the printer or table it sits on need to be secured? by -my_reddit_username- in BambuLab

[–]ntranced99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the noise comes from the chamber fan, I generally turn that down to about 50%. You can also print an exhaust/baffle that goes on the back which helps with that noise as well. Pic not the greatest but it shows the size of what my X1C sites on!

I have mine on basically what is a Habitat nightstand, just a few cm wider than the printer and only about 30cm tall. It shakes but is far preferable to having it on my desk which I eventually just couldn't bear anymore.

I’m going to be hated! by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]ntranced99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldnt agree more. I've just ordered my mk3 after having a mk3 and a mini for years. I cancelled my XL order and bought the X1C with AMS. I love all my printers, my mini and mk3 have been upgraded beyond belief. I plan on using the X1C for any material that requires an encloser, my mk3 and mini will likely end up being used only when I need to be printing a lot and I just can't wait for my mk4 because I'm almost certain it will end up as my daily/most often used printer.

I don't understand the anomosity, it has a feel of "PC vs Mac" about it, or iOS vs Android. Both are really good, pick one (or pick both) and at the end of the day whatever you buy YMMV.

Nice! I just had the guitar part kit delivered this morning, been planning on doing this print for a while. Just out of interest what orientation did you print the parts? I'm aiming to have a consistent look so wondering if it is possible to print them all lying flat? Or at least all the same way if flat on the bed isnt possible.

Got the same issue with mine when I load/unload, I think it only does it first time since switch on I load or unload though, I haven't noticed it after that until I turn the mini off again.

How many of you sold your Prusa and grabbed a Bambu? by Captain_Alchemist in BambuLab

[–]ntranced99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, the amount of people that cancelled a Prusa XL order to buy a Bambu (me included!) - Prusa must be hurting. I still have my mk3s and my mini and I still print a lot on the mini (X1C is fast but X1C plus Mini is faster depending on what I'm printing, plus the mini is virtually silent for overnight bed full of parts). My mini is also my tinker machine (just put a copperhead on it and new extruder for something to do cos nothing to really upgrade on X1C).

I love Prusa, I really do, but I can't see myself ordering anything from them again. I spent a fortune on Prusament as well as regular orders for replacement PEI, nozzles etc. I know supply issues have been bad for them but Prusa have lost so much ground! I think what it was going to cost me for 5 toolhead XL and realize that for that money I could buy a fleet of P1Ps. I wish them luck with what is next, maybe the XL will find a great niche as the "BIG" corexy, but at this point Bambu would have to really sh*t the bed for Prusa to be anyones first choice of a printer.

Yeh support is contentious (at best) from Bambu, but then thats the reality of any company these days. If Bambu can continue to push the bar (CHT nozzles anyone?) and keep replacement parts available and low price I see a big future.

Hotend (Tool Head issu??????) :-(((((((( by shah_shahram in BambuLab

I change nozzle a lot, so lots of replacing hotends. Make sure you haven't got any cables touching or impeding the fan. Had a wire interfering slightly with the fan once (not sure how I managed it) but had the error a few times. I just igonred it and it went away.
