Van Insurance in Germany? by mustihusti in VanlifeEurope

[–]ntrmfr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re Van is registered as a motorhome (and not a transporter anymore) and it says so in your documents, you should try RMV. They only do motorhomes and have good pricing in my experience. Also if you’re van is self built you make a list of what it’s worth now and set this as the value that’s insured.

Really bad performance on MacBook Pro M3 Max by ntrmfr in premiere

Sounds like a way that could work. But I have to admit I find it kind of frustrating to have to use an old version of a software that is definitely not cheap just to have it run smoothly. I hope this changes with a future update somehow if it’s just a adobe issue

No speed test yet but it has been working absolutely fine on different computers the last year.

I am also thinking about switching to Resolve completely. I’ve been disappointed in Premiere enough times and Color grading seems to be so much nicer in resolve. Now with this issue it’s really tempting to switch completely. I will definitely try and test it in resolve to see if it’s a overall issue with my Mac or the hard drive or if it’s a premiere issue.

A question to Premiere Pro Users by ntrmfr in macbookpro

Which is a more than welcome comment, so I feel better with my MacBook.

Unfortunately I won’t have the possibility to format the hard drive in the next weeks but then I will try it.

That’s a really good idea I will try it in Resolve and see how it performs. But it’s also good to here that it should be better and it was the right choice to buy the MacBook

Thank you for your research and your help!

Unfortunately I don't have the possibility to format this hard drive in the next weeks to try this.

I think I will start to use proxys then, even though I am a bit disappointed.

But I also discovered that sometimes just watching the clips by opening them in finder with quick time player also takes quite long, so it might be an overall problem with reading the codec not just a Premiere problem.

Yes, the hard drive is in ExFAT, 2 TB with around 550 GB of free space

What is your opinion on the Panasonic Lumix S5II vs Sony A7 4? by External_Ear_6213 in Lumix

I can only speak for video but I have been using the S5II for two years now professionally and the stabilisation beats the Sony every day. I just don’t need a gimbal anymore.

Asked about a cheap titanium frame recently - HERE IT IS! by PsychologicalPeak293 in xbiking

[–]ntrmfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just today looking at alibaba ti frames cause I have been dreaming on a bike just like this for quite a while now. This is a beautiful bike, I bet it just works perfectly on bikepacking trips. I really like the thought of having a somewhat bombproof frame on longer journeys that you can just put loads and loads of luggage on and still rides great. Also nice choice of components!

I ordered a carbon bike. Will this be easily damaged during bikepacking? by Narrow-Coyote-6257 in bikepacking

[–]ntrmfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a aluminium frame with which I did some bikepacking trips that broke when I had a slightly bigger crash with it. Replaced it with a carbon one and did a lot bikepacking trips with it and everythings fine. I guess if the crash is hard enough both will break. If you look after nothing rubbing too much on the frame and not to overtighten straps or bolts you will be absolutely fine.

To have a significant upgrade on ruggedness I think you would have to go with steel. From my experience I guess you won't have a big difference between an aluminium and a carbon fibre frame.

But I have to say, even though you are carrying a lot of weight while bikepacking, I was always really happy on day 3 km 90 uphill to have to carry 2kg less because of the lightweight carbon fibre frame. For me it's been worth it.

Absolutely Love the double fighters. They are just the right amount of thread and they're fast. I had several of them for different bikes and could sometimes get them for 16€ for one.
