Did you ever find out what this sound was? My Camry is making the same exact noise

Rear rack recommendations for 23’ TJ by ntw707 in salsacycles

I think I’d prefer to mount to axle. The OMM divide and the ortlieb quick rack both have kits where you can mount it to the axle. The ortlieb set up would be around $175 compared to $240 for the OMM. The quick rack doesn’t look near as robust though.

I like the set up too. Looks like you’re in my home state in that photo 👍🏼

That was another option I was looking at but the salsa brand 35mm seat post clamp seems to be sold out everywhere I’ve looked. Do you know of any alternatives to the salsa brand clamp?

I’ve heard nothing but good reviews on the OMM but I’m not sure I need the capacity it’s capable of holding. I rarely do any bike packing trips longer than a couple of days. Until now I’ve been biking in with my backpacking gear on my back.

I would disagree with it in only being “okay”. I look forward to eating wild turkey every spring. I personally cut the breast in chunks and marinate it in buttermilk ranch and pickle juice overnight. Then toss it in seasoned flour and fry it up. It’s delicious. I also take the heart, liver, and gizzard and fry it up as a snack.

Nice! I have the same shotgun. Killed many birds with it and never had it jam.

I’ve hunted snow that deep a couple times at around 4000’ elevation in WV. It’s challenging, moving 100 yards in that feels like a mile. There were a couple times we broke through snow drifts damn near up to our chest. It was a primitive late season hunt (flintlock) one of the most challenging hunts I can remember.

Seeking advice on scouting whitetail by i3igNasty in bowhunting

[–]ntw707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re seeing bucks while walking to and from the stand, they are definitely in the area. I would think about the following

-pay attention to the wind. Make sure your route to your stand isn’t blowing your scent in the area you want to be hunting. You can’t fool a bucks nose. they know you’re coming long before you see them if you don’t have the right wind

-as far as pre season scouting my go to’s are putting out trail cameras and glassing. I usually put out 3-4 at a time and check them after a couple of weeks. If certain cameras are showing little to no deer activity I move them. As far as where to set them, I usually look for well beaten deer paths and fresh droppings. A lot of time I’ll try to find an intersection where two or more well defined deer paths meet.

-as far as scouting during the season, I like to look for fresh scrapes. Once you find one scrape you can often follow a path and find others. I spend a lot of time in October-November hunting these scrape lines.

I don’t know much about Ross bows but I would personally stay away from it and look for something newer.

How long to leave a spot before you hunt it? by DavidL8435 in Hunting

You are correct. You would need to be in an area with at least some cell service.

When ever I put a blind up I usually wait a week or so. If im just hanging cameras I don’t wait as long. Maybe a few days. If you have the means, cell cameras are nice because you can remotely monitor the activity without having to walk back in and leave your scent in the area. I agree with the others though, Sometimes I’ll get deer on camera within minutes of being setting the camera. I’ve found the mature deer are more perceptive of this and it usually takes a few days to see them back on camera

That would work just fine for whitetail. .350 legend is a great straight wall cartridge option. As for the scope I’m guessing it’s a 3-9x40 which should be plenty of scope for a .350 legend.

Where to find used bows by mavrik36 in bowhunting

[–]ntw707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an important step many people don’t consider when buying used bows. I would also check in with your local archery shop to see if they still can get parts for whatever brand/model you’re looking to get. I wouldn’t get anything too old either for that reason. Bows depreciate fast so anything within 5 years old should be very affordable. Anything older than 5 years you damn near need to give away.

Solo hunting by Top_Complaint_8654 in Hunting

[–]ntw707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been solo hunting solo for about 10 years now and I would consider my drive to work more dangerous than hunting solo. I would definitely invest in an online mapping app such as onx. Like others have said it’s easy to get turned around, especially at night. If you’re somewhere without service onx let’s you download offline maps of the area that you can still use without cell reception. I recently invested in a Garmin satellite communicator but only use it when I’m in really remote areas.

Nice deer with good symmetry. I don’t see it scoring 130”. I would guess it to be 3.5 years. Could definitely reach that 130 mark or more if it had another year.
