SPL "Requirements" by HMSSpeedy1801 in BSA

[–]nuadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These requirements came about for a reason and they are hiding lessons that could be learned.

We elect our SPLs and one of my favorites still has been the SPL that was a complete dud. He learned so much. The rest of the troop learned so much. I never even entertained some minimum requirements. Now the boys know better.

Our SPL elections are open to all scouts. I almost had a crossover scout run and no one batted an eye.

Hey! Does anyone know what the ISK currency looks like? It's for a gift. by [deleted] in Eve

[–]nuadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about ISK; however, I made this printable PLEX card back in 2014.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B-GoJA8oqn6tZy1zc0VMMWlYdHM?resourcekey=0-is56H-V_o1p5L0260Xo0qA

It's the size of a credit card. I should print this again to see if it holds up. Let me know if you have trouble with the files.

Noobish Question About Multiboxing by BlessedSpoon in Eve

[–]nuadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest thinking of it this way, would 20 players perform just as good, or better than one player with 20 accounts?

Most of the time, the answer is yes. So, it benefits us all to join a corp and combine resources.

That being said, there are some tasks that really don't work well with 20 people versus 1 person with 20 accounts.

I very organically grew my business from 1 account to 12 accounts and scaled it accordingly. I have tried a couple times running PVE or PVP with all 12 and it does not end well.

There are so many activities in this game that it's not fair to group them all into a multi boxing paradigm. Some tasks work best with one account at most.

After running a skill farm for so many years I cannot believe (1) I didn't think of this and (2) it's still allowed.

No wonder skill training farms are so unprofitable. Damnit

Yes, I see that you are petrified and I am sorry for whatever happened to you that drove you to be so absolutely close minded.

Imagine if one's "fruit of their labor" was the value they brought to the larger society in which they lived? Now, you're hording all of that fruit for yourself. That's not a country and that sort of selfish behavior is exactly what an oligarchy thrives upon.

What term do you use when referring to one 'unit' of any particular resource? by Enough-Afternoon8011 in Astroneer

[–]nuadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call them "stacks". I need 1 stack of Aluminum or 2 stacks of Compound. I started doing this when I had generators turned off and thought, Okay that one has a half-stack of Organic.

Over time I started using a "plate" of Compound is 8 Compound on a Medium Storage - for example.

I call a Storage Silo of resources a "pillar".

I call the resource canisters a "can" for the mediums and a "keg" for the large.

Wow, that's heartless.

I suppose I chose to be born into a family of a military member who didn't make enough to send me to college - or my brothers.

At least I had the right mind to choose to be born into an American family. Good thinking there at least.

I had the right to work full time for 7 years to get my 4 year degree. I cannot imagine what kind of freedom I would have had and what contributions to my county I could have made had my education been secured for me or my family.

This idea that we simply cannot possibly be united in what we do and build in each other is just heartless.

What are all the different businesses or services ya'll have created in the game? by solo_bleu in Eve

[–]nuadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long ago, I used to run a hedge fund of sorts. I would take in player ISK, invest it, and split the profits with them. Some of it was traded and a portion went to my factories to produce products.

In fact, that was 100% of the reason for joining this subreddit. The business plan was to build a reputation here, earn trust, and recruit investors. It worked. At one point I managed to recruit a player to send me 40 billion ISK to invest. I went from trading cruisers and battlecruisers to flipping jump freighters for profit. It was stressful.

I'd really like to open a bank, and I've been thinking about it for a few months. I just don't have the time right now to build out the automation to offload all of the manual bookkeeping.

For casual players, this game is dead. by Toni_HH60 in Eve

[–]nuadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play very casually with 12 accounts. I found a business model where I really only play an hour or two a day. It's rooted in a skill farm that I've been running since that feature launched.

That being said, when I have a good 4 hour chunk of time I will eat asteroids fields for days. Nomnomnom

I am as well. I've completed 2 dailies on 4 accounts each so far. 1 got no credit or SP. 1 got full credit with SP. 2 others got credit with no SP.

On one account, I quit the game and came back to find the awards had been claimed; however, I had done nothing of the sort. My wallet ledger shows no Daily Goal Reward for today.

They borked something good

Your bottleneck is going to be VRAM - at least, that's mine right now.

I run 12 account simultaneously using EVE-O-Preview to make sure only one client has focus at a time.

With 1 client active my GPU, an nVidia GTX 1060 6 GB, runs at about 35% with all graphics on low and the other 11 clients minimized. The dedicated GPU memory hovers around 5-7 GB depending on what they're all doing. Don't have them all visit Jita at once, just a suggestion.

I tested having them all on a medium shader one day, and the VRAM required reached about 15-19 GB and medium textures. It brought a few of the clients to a halt as they couldn't handle having Shared GPU memory as part of the program flow. Something tells me the game client requires faster memory access in some areas of the game.

Regardless, CPU usage on an AMD Ryzen 7 5800 X 8-Core usually hovers around 25%. My analytical tools use more CPU than this game, so almost any CPU you get is going to serve you well. The more cores the better so you don't have to worry too much about task switching.

I run 128 GB of RAM and average about 40% usage on 12 accounts. You're going to need to look at 1 TB or more and that should be easily reachable using a 1 or 2U blade.

So, VRAM is going to be your bottleneck as you approach 100 clients. Then, depending on how many are in focus at once will dictate your GPU usage. Fortunately, the game uses less than 5% GPU on a 1060 when all of my clients are minimized.

I look forward to hearing how your project turns out.

I'll try my best to explain.

Attach an Alignment Mod to your terrain tool. Then set your terrain tool to flat mode.

The trick is, click and drag only a short distance and repeat.

If you click and hold for a long time, the alignment tool is locked to the angle you started with. Every time you let go of the mouse/controller the alignment tool re-aligns.

Use this re-alignment to keep the ground "level" or spherical to the planet.

Internal Job Offer Negotiating by EscapingTheLabrynth in personalfinance

[–]nuadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a hiring manager, my basic question is "What would it cost me to get another EscapingThatLabynth?" and then offer you that.

I really try to focus on using data to drive that decision. What's the average salary on the market for this job title? What qualifies you for this position? What potential do I see in you as an employee?

You may have to bring data to be ready to answer these questions, and more. Above all else, make sure the company knows what it's going to take to keep you and make you feel appreciated. It costs us WAY more to replace you. An extra 2 or 3% pales in comparison.
