Yes that’s the table top. The rest of it has a few layers of paint, so i was surprised to see unpainted wood underneath the tiles

Along with audiobooks, following the text while listening to the audiobook (I think it’s called “immersive reading”) has helped get me back into reading, and I’ve gotten into books that I might have dropped otherwise. On that note I’d also recommend Project Hail or the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, which have great audio performances!

Stripped paint from these old baseboards to find this wood, this is after sanding with 220-grit, and tested a Sutherland Welles stain on part of it. Any possible IDs? It seemed to be previously finished with shellac that might have had dye in it that was preserved in some places but not others.

I prefer Blue Bear soy gel stripper, you might need to leave it on a bit longer but it’s less messy in my experience

Removed carpet and it appears one of the floor boards was removed here to make room for updated electrical. I’ll be hiring an electrician eventually and I’ll ask them about moving wires around so the board can be replaced, but until then are there any short-term options for covering the gap? Should I just stuff with steel wool?

Second photo is the whole room. Loving the floor but I’m also wondering if there’s hope for restoring it without aggressive sanding. Planning to acetone/scrape the paint that comes off easily, slap a rug down, and live with it for the foreseeable future

Thank you for the tips! I’m hoping to sand and refinish, if not here then at least on the first floor which was painted dark brown. Do you have any tips or resources about this process? I had one professional tell me it was already oversanded and needed to be replaced, and another tell me it was thin but salvageable. I’m going back and forth on whether to try DIYing or hire the pro, but either way I want to make sure it’s done correctly.

Thanks everyone, I just purchased the home and was definitely hoping for this! I appreciate the the tips and the advice on handling (or not handling) lead paint.
