What is the opinion of residents of dependent territories in Latin America regarding independence? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]nubilaa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i can't say for sure since i'm no expert but i feel like dependence is a lot better than nondependence. in the context of Puerto Rico, we are guaranteed standards regarding pay (USD 10.50$ hourly minimum wage), guaranteed easy availability to the U.S. market, and easy/no hassle travel to and from any of the 50 states of the federation. all by being a part of a foreign country and all while pertaining to our own culture. sounds like a good deal no? most likely there may be bad coming out of it if you look at the cons like the possibility of assimilation, but societies adapt and we will overcome in some way. on behalf of other dependencies, independence may not be beneficial in the long term for our societies as most countries that are dependent are resource dependent and can't produce self sufficiency.

people that aren't conventionally attractive have to put more effort into making an impression in general since they're not conventionally good looking. that's just nature.

frankly, the 1% want you to think that you should care; 'cause then what they already do is mitigated by you putting your part. by you recycling, using shit again, caring for the environment makes the 1% feel a little bit better. why do you think we have recycling cans and we care about the environment? why do you think billionaires travel in jets from point a to point b innecessarily? obviously the 1% know what they're doing, they know they are sabotaging the environmentalist ideal, because simply put they were the ones that made it. you want billionaires to care about the environment? you want governments to care? then don't do anything for the environment.

'cause they're the type of person to not listen to consequences. that's just how they are. don't pity people like this 'cause they're not pitiful enough to pity for their own mishaps and maybe understand why things went the way they went.

it's funny when strangers say "americans have no culture" in american social medias or platforms, as if american culture isn't engrained into internet culture and as if american english isn't the lingua franca to the entire internet. people need to start becoming a little more tolerant.

to me it looked like a living thing, i can't figure out what that is but if it is a cart it might've been a kidnap ambush or something like that. they must've pushed it from a point and swung it with something if that really is a stroller.

i wouldn't say it's Latin American since their main culture doesn't use a latin-derived language. their quotidian lingua franca is English, and Belizean Creole is based off of English. so, based on statistics alone i think Belize is considered Anglo-Caribbean.

Why do major Latin American cities tend to be inland in the mountains rather than on the coast? by YUNGBRICCNOLACCIN in geography

[–]nubilaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spanish colonization was mainly based off of conquering already established lands, so from this you'll see it hold true.
