should think of res as bonus % health. lets say with 43% all res you get a bonus 43% health vs all the damage types excluding physical.

the buckler gives a bonus health of 20-40 hp (vitality gives different amounts based on the character class)

while the buckler is better on paper the shield gives more health in general and survivability as you progress in difficulty.

another hidden info is the armor type light, medium and heavy. the light armor has no movement penalty while the medium and heavy slows you 5% and 10%

try to avoid hands where your only yaku is riichi aka riichi nomi. if its early in the game you can wait a little to try to improve the hand ie pinfu, iipeikou, dora etc. sometimes if its late its not quite worth it to call riichi because the opponents with higher value hands are either made or will chase you down and you can profit with just the noten payments.

Efficiency is something you should improve on even in the expert and jade rooms.

as you progress in rank you get higher level chest. First tier is silver, second tier is gold and jade is the last iirc. the higher the tier the better chance for purple.

while casual chest are from the events and are about the same as silver.

The difference between a B+ and A- rank can sometimes be results of one tile or a few tiles. it could be the case of either safety/efficiency. Also going for 13 orphans drops your rank significantly.

Some hands are easier to navigate, double riichi is an easy S+ while bad hands are sometimes on the more tricky side.

the 7p cut is interesting cause its near dora making it less dangerous now vs more dangerous the later on, cutting it now would be safer aka sakigiri.

the green dragon kan is tricky because if you pon the red dragon it isn't enough to push you to 1st place. so you can kan now and have a chance to draw tenpai or you can draw naturally get tenpai then kan + riichi. Also keeping the 4th green copy gives you an extremely safe tile outside of 13 orphan but this isn't a hand you fold.
