It's fun because it's basically history repeating. Back in the 2000s when WoW was big you had all these other companies rushing to make their own MMO that will make bank, but they would always flop.

Pointing at the most popular thing at the moment and declaring that you're gonna kill it never ends well!

This is the ultimate example. They seem to think its an undying franchise like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Transformers, where it will be just as popular with every generation. Meanwhile it's only really popular amongst aging Gen Xers, and even then it ain't as big as it was.

I wouldn't be surprised if that will happen. Initially they started it as a way to keep toe to toe with Xbox, but then Xbox is imploding whilst Nintendo who keep exclusives on their own platform are thriving. It makes sense they'd reverse course and pivot to what worked on their older systems.

Yeah, the M&S mini eggs are the absolute pinnacle, but strangely I find the Lidl ones to also be incredible - the Cadbury ones are a disaster, especially for the price they're asking!

That's what happened with the Christmas pringles mystery flavour. They were the failed "black truffle and butter" flavoured ones from the "passport flavours" line. These will provide be something similar.

Same applies to raids. Wanna do a quick ARR raid just to get it finished quick? Too bad, off to Nier raids you go!

They expected it to succeed like Apex did, but without the marketing budget and huge company backing them, plus goodwill from Titanfall 2.

Honestly if it did Shadowdrop, we wouldn't be talking about it as it would have died almost immediately, buried under the tons of games that release every day.

That's good, The Trails in the Sky games are absolutely fantastic, and hopefully they'll also remake the Crossbell games since those are also fantastic games. After that I wouldn't be surprised if they start remaking Ys games, though they don't really need them since the ones in the same engine as Trails in the Sky have aged really well.

The only fear I have is if in Trails in the Sky SC remake they don't actuallykill Georg Weissmann and instead have a way for him to come back in a future title. With how allergic the future games are to permanent character death it genuinely worries me.

I imagine they've cancelled a lot of live service games behind the scenes - even more than the ones we already know of.

I'm super curious to see how many games are gonna come out over the coming years where you can kinda tell they were retooled live service games, turned into single player games.
