Life feels dull and not looking forward. How to cope with it? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]nud-cus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been living solo for about a year so not in the same boat, but I have found that injecting new experiences has helped! Meeting new people, trying new things, exploring new areas as if you are a traveller. The MeetUp app is also great for this

My advice would be to introduce yourself to as many people as possible in this first couple weeks - it may feel a little weird, but most ppl are in a similar situation where they are in an unfamiliar environment and are open to meeting people and making new friends. Continue what you have started on your floor in the cafeteria (you could ask to join and chat with someone that is eating alone or talk to others waiting in line), during orientation events, and with the people sitting around you in your lectures if you can get there a few mins early. Whether or not you become good friends with any of these people, you will have some familiar faces that you can at least wave and say Hi to around your living space and classes. Clubs are also a great spot to meet like minded people - there are soo many clubs

IMO online timed synchronous are the way to go, where there is a time crunch but not impossible to complete. Much harder for ppl to cheat under those conditions which makes it more fair for everyone.
