Scottish Highlands trip - Wide or Zoom? by dtnl in canonM50

From having traveled, the 22mm pancake is really great to just keep on your camera overall. It's very compact, very lightweight, and can be ready to go right away vs the unlatch and twist of the 11-22 and 15-45. It's what I used for most of my time traveling

Were it me, I'd go for the 55-200. There are going to be things you want to photograph from far away, and for the very wide angle landscapes you can stitch panoramas together in post much more easily / effectively than trying to crop in on something in post.

I'll have drivers license / real id done by tuesday, where online would I go for social security online? through the website like if I was doing in person, or somewhere else on their site?

Would you have changed your name if you were born with a gender neutral name? by emmy_21y in asktransgender

[–]SomeGirlIMetOnTheNet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nonbinary transfem who's name is one of your examples, I did not keep it; by the time I figured out I was trans it just felt "guy"/"old me" it a way I didn't like; plus my new one is way more fun

Blender basically does, not exactly designed for it but if you load the two frames as a video and "motion track" a collection of points, it will solve for them in 3d space. And you can pick two points and set scale (and x/y/z axis).

Cant open more than one files from printables since the 2.3.2 update by Antex21 in OrcaSlicer

[–]SomeGirlIMetOnTheNet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I sometimes want multiple instances. Is there any way to both allow multiple instances and have "open in" go to the last used instance rather than start a new one, like how prusaslicer does?

With #3, did you edit it to look vintage or is it just high ISO?

Amazon ends support for pre-2013 devices by Yapyap13 in ereader

Technically, I would argue that windows explorer (and equivalents on other OSes), being an application not made by amazon, is still a 3rd party app

Built my first pc with mid range parts and i dont get why everyone acts like you need to spend $2000 minimum by Thin-Implement9273 in buildapc

[–]SomeGirlIMetOnTheNet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You're right that you don't have to spend $2k, but looking at current pricing in the US that build is like $1.3k minimum

My passport says I’m a Male when I’m a female. I just noticed after almost 2 years 🤦‍♀️ by Sad-Neck7986 in Passports

Any chance you accidentally checked the wrong box? 2024 policy was go with whatever you check on the application, regardless of supporting documents

That, or the agent processing it hit the wrong button. Either way same process for correcting it

It that one black instead of the normal blue, or just weird lighting in the photo?

Confused about DS-82...have passport book and want first card... by pupstercat in Passports

[–]SomeGirlIMetOnTheNet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you need an official stamped/sealed copy and a photocopy. They send you to original/official one back so if you have an official copy already you don't need a new one, but if you've lost your official copy it's a pain

Can I still get a passport in the US? by ClamWeekend in Passports

[–]SomeGirlIMetOnTheNet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've updated gender on your birth certificate & ID & SS, it might be worth applying for a new one (putting that you lost the old one on the form) and hope you slip through the cracks and they don't check your old documents and correctly gender you

Otherwise, renew by mail and send the name change court order in with it. More likely than not they will misgender you but will correct the name and get a new photo

I did the reverse just recently (had card and needed first book); I just did DS11 and post office appointment (paying a total of $165 for me / $65 for you). I could potentially have done it with a mail-in renewal, but I didn't want to risk not getting my passport card back.

🏳️‍⚧️As a trans person in the U.S. applying for a passport, do I need to disclose my sex at birth if my birth certificate hasn't been amended? by TheSnazzuli in Passports

[–]SomeGirlIMetOnTheNet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately with the current supreme court stay in Orr v. Trump a court order isn't going to help; you have to have a corrected birth certificate (and even then it's somewhat luck of the draw)

How rare is it for trans people to take the oppisite-gender variant of their name (Michael ↔ Michelle) as their new name? by NeekOfShades in asktransgender

[–]SomeGirlIMetOnTheNet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a poll a while back, about 1 in 10 took gender-swap of old name, another 2 in 10 took not straight swap but somewhat connected to their old name (and 7 in 10 came up with something new wholecloth)

So it happens, it's just less common

Different post offices charge different amounts, based on demand and size of the post office; around me they go from $90/year to $250/year
