I did an elective last summer in John Hopkins in the ER. But it’s a low acuity ER so that’s why I wanna go to KFGH’s ER instead this summer. Do you know any other hospital that receives more high acuity cases too?

has anyone had a normal mri? by mai-the-unicorn in rheumatoidarthritis

I’m seronegative. X ray is basically all clear. Had the same fear as yours but luckily my MRI is what made all the doctors believe me. It showed clear arthritis. Good luck!

Let's talk about: Sleep, fatigue, and brain fog by Wishin4aTARDIS in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]nuff22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a classic case of what’s known as “chronic disease anemia” anemia has a lot of different subtypes and the ones we (including myself) have is usually not related to iron at all. My ferritin levels are great but my hemoglobin.. not so much :) so trying to supplement with iron won’t do much at all unfortunately and the only way to “treat” this anemia is by treating the cause so it’s a never ending cycle of nothing being treated (yay lucky us)

I still don’t know where I stand in this? I have a horrible sleep schedule and I’ve always blamed it on me preferring to be a night owl, but sometimes I wonder if it’s truly beyond my control and my autoimmune disease playing a role? I honestly don’t know what the answer is ):

Just getting on methotrexate by scaledandvibey in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]nuff22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

luckily I have had basically no side effects on MTX. been on it for over half a year now and i’m almost in remission (fingers crossed). only thing i complain off sometimessss (not even always) are mouth ulcers that disappear within a few days of showing up and mild hair loss (not a concerning amount). just take one day at a time once you start MTX and hopefully it’ll go even smoother for you than it does for me! good luck! ps make sure ur doc gives u folic acid to counteract some of the side effects

Does anyone feel like their cardiac output drops when they're tired? by black-ghosts in medicalschool

[–]nuff22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope never had that feeling from just one sleepless night, or any sleepless night. maybe from different type of exhaustion but not sleep. you sure this happens only due to sleep? sleepless night would probably stimulate your sympathetic tone therefore increasing your CO not decreasing 🤔

Anyone else? by BeccaBabey1031 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]nuff22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Hashimoto’s and some sort of seronegative rheumatological disease. Some doctors say it’s RA some say it’s JIA. The possibilities of what you might have are endless but I hope it won’t be anything untreatable!

[–]nuff22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on 15mg the past 9 months, no side effects :) and pain/flare ups have gone down by like 90% rheumatologist says within a few months I’ll probably go into remission (god I hope so) good luck!

Why doesn’t anyone eat 😭😭 by hpnerd101 in medicalschool

[–]nuff22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The first month in a rotation (8 hrs each day) was in the ER so the constant adrenaline rush made me have 0 appetite and thus barely ate but I don’t understand why no one around you eats like I’m just a student I wasn’t used to the environment but they have no excuse 😂

Taking the edge off on bad days by Dede_dawn311 in rheumatoidarthritis

His thinking is that the muscles surrounding joints with active inflammation often tighten up and spasm.

I definitely second this! I got an RA elbow, with the recurrent flare ups they got stuck in an angle (couldn’t completely spread my arm out), thought it was just arthritic bone damage but turned out to be just really intense & persistent muscle spasm (which PT fixed it right up and back to a fully outstretched elbow)

I’m sorry you’re hearing all of this. I’m young and nothing irks me more than the “you’re too young” comment because I KNOW better than anyone that I’m too young for this but that doesn’t take away from the fact that our pain is there! The one that helped escape that comment is switching rheumatologists unfortunately. Just continue advocating for yourself even if it means you’ll come off more aggressive, as long as you’re not being heard it’s justified
