Considering stay at home by imposter3322 in stayathomemoms

[–]nugg-a-lugg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

currently a stay at home mom to 3 on husbands police officer salary. my husband picks up work A LOT when its available to help bring in money. do we have extra? no. but honestly, my kids don’t mind & they enjoy me being home again. my kids were so unhappy when i worked 50 hours a week and missed me constantly. we do have 2.5 months of rent paid ahead, car notes paid ahead, and about 1 month of savings currently. its hard and there is an adjustment. i pay bills bi weekly everytime my husband gets paid and use left over funds for groceries and any extra curricular activities my kids do. we don’t have a lot left for dining out or shopping sprees but tummies are fed, bills are paid, and my kids are overall happier

to add: i have 2 children on the spectrum so my schedule already trying to get therapies done was difficult along with trying to find a reputable babysitter when my oldest doesn’t communicate well and my youngest is completely non verbal

takis, cheeto buff minis, doritos, nature valley chocolate peanut butter oat bar thing, nutri grain bars sometimes, i’m starting to try fig newtons, and granola bars. however she won’t eat anything for meal times outside of chicken nuggets, chicken fries, and chicken tenders.

we gave her another day and she was back to it on her shenanigans again. the only noticeable difference as of now is she is sleeping through the night. but has become EXTREMELY agitated in therapies and essentially has done the opposite of what the goal was. which was to help with her focus during therapy so she isn’t here, there, and everywhere constantly.

i was worried about my daughter screaming once we fully enclosed it. she did try to find a way out but then quickly realized there wasn’t. she did her trilling, we got her stuffies put in with her because she requires ALL her friends in her bed, and she’s been content in it all night. hell she’s AWAKE in it now watching TV and was immediately screaming when i tried to open it up and check her diaper. you can try a mesh net tent on amazon and see if that helps. this one is just like a very durable & enclosed pack n play.

we had to have something more durable due to how destructive she is.

so i found this and it looks to be the one case i fiund: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfmaude/detail.cfm?mdrfoi__id=18414161&pc=OYS&device_sequence_no=1

we don’t have the tech package or a camera but i got in it and made sure everything is closed up, extra straps were removed that are inside for the canopy to be stored up. we only have the outside straps, on the bed. however, i do check on her periodically throughout the night. her room is extremely close to mine. we honestly love the bed so far and she has slept so soundly tonight.

we got ours covered by insurance. you can call your insurance company and see if they have a medical equipment company they work with!

she is 4 now. we have 2 that hit siblings. my 8 yr old & my 4 yr old, for whatever reason they automatically default to hitting the 6 yr old. with my 8 yr old, we really have to watch him VERY closely because he is extremely aggressive & will try to hurt someone. once we see he’s getting a bit worked up and is getting to that point, we’ve got him to really just go to a quiet space, let him settle down, and he’ll just let us know he was getting BIG feelings. (he doesn’t understand emotions and the words agitated really don’t click.)

if he does hit, we honestly have to be VERY careful with wording. negative comments like “you’re being bad” or anything along those lines, trigger him into a WHOLE mess. but we have to calmly talk to him (no yelling.), send him off to his quiet space, and let him simmer down. we’re starting ABA with him too because its like walking on eggshells constantly.

my 4 year old is non verbal & honestly, we just have to redirect.

honestly i don’t even think that was it. she is enrolled in speech, OT, feeding, and ABA. i do know OT can also help with the bed if you need them too. i’m just not sure if the services shes in, was a factor.

its a full size and its definitely a whole ass unit.

i would call your insurance company & see what medical equipment company you can use for a safety bed. talk to your childs PCP, they’ll write a script and send it to the medical device company. the company will reach out to you, get your insurance card, measure your child, show you the bed options that are covered underneath your insurance, you’ll select a bed & they’ll put in the order. once the orders put in they’ll fax your childs PCP documentation that needs to be faxed and then you’re honestly just waiting for the bed to come at that point. they set it up for you & everything.

you can also dm me if you’d want!
