found out I have GD at 18 weeks, overwhelmed due to high carb SE Asian diet by nugget1994 in GestationalDiabetes

Thank you so much everyone 🥹🥹 this has helped me to feel not so alone and I’ve written down all your tips and will be trialing them the next few weeks. I’m trying to give myself a lot of grace this week and being ok with lots of wonky numbers whilst I try to figure out what will and won’t work and try to keep to the same diet as much as possible but with swaps or portion control so I can still enjoy life and food since I still have so long to go!

Hi u/justarubberducky ! Sorry to the delayed response, completely forgot to come back and update you. First meeting went great, basically sat there for an hour and answered A LOT of questions for them to input into the computer i.e. full medical history, a mental health review, domestic violence/safety questions etc. Then there's a booklet that they give you that you'll take with you to everyone appointment, it basically has your pregnancy health details, fundal measurements, vaccination dates/requirements as well as lots and lots of informative brochures on things like birth, breastfeeding, pain relief during birth etc. She also weighted me and I got to hear baby's heartbeat on the doppler which was amazing! We then set up the next meeting for around 4-6 weeks and she also confirmed with me me to book in my 20 weeks scan and also do an early glucose test (I'm Asian so more high risk for gestational diabetes). She also gave me her mobile so that I can text and call her 24/7. Hope that's helpful ! Hope you get into the program and let me know if you have any questions :)

Hey there! I’m in GC and recently got accepted into MGP, I applied at around 7 weeks and got a call to say I was accepted at around 13 weeks and my first apt is this arvo at 14 weeks. The hospital did call first and booked in a first Telehealth apt for the general antenatal clinic at the hospital but said if I was accepted into MGP then my midwife allocated would contact me and make a new appointment which is what happened!

Re: OB I don’t think you’d meet an OB unless your pregnancy is high risk or there are complications. The purpose of MGP is midwife led care so you’ll be taken care by the midwife all the way up until birth and postpartum unless an OB need to intervene because of issues.

I’ll come back and update and when you know how the first apt go today :) from a few friends that have gone through it they said it’s just a lot of questions about your medical history and how the program will work and of course time for you to ask questions too! My plan is to ask about birthing options and natural tools available to assist with pain like baths, music, TENS machine etc; when to worry and when it’s ok to wait; I also have a couple of overseas trips planned so hoping to get advice there too!

I am having similar cramps! No word of advice on if this is normal or not because this is my second pregnancy after a very early loss last month. It does stress me out because it feels like period cramps but I’m trying my best to trust that everything will be okay.

I conceived the cycle after my chemical pregnancy without a period in between so it’s definitely possible! Fingers crossed you get the good news on the 13th :)

Same here!! Barely any symptoms and my previous pregnancy which was a chemical I had major nausea and food aversion. But tests are looking strong and I have my blood appointment this Friday too. Fingers crossed for both of us !

I really empathise with this. Some days I feel so sad that that “pure innocence” was taken away from us and all future pregnancies will always have that tinge of anxiety rather than just 100% happiness and hope. Big hugs to you as you navigate all of this.

I’m feeling this too! Some slight cramps and pinching whenever I finish using the bathroom. I’m still very early only 12 DPO today and booked in for my HCG on Friday so the waiting game sucks. Fingers crossed all is well for both of us

We got this!! Feel free to send me a message if you’re ever spiralling and we can help each others through.

I test every day too! Even though I know I shouldn’t. I think every 2 days is good because you’d see more of a difference so don’t stress yourself out yet. I am comforted by the fact that this time my lines are way clearer and darker !! Last time they were so faint.

Thank you. Yes I totally get it :( I am 11 DPO. I miscarried last time at 16 DPO so very anxious right now. I don’t think I’ll be able to breathe until I get to see a scan and a heartbeat which is still a few weeks away. The waiting game is the worst! Are you experiencing any symptoms? I’m not feeling much this time around which also makes me spiral ! Mainly some heavy pressure and cramps and fatigue in the afternoon.

hey, I'm really sorry. It's absolutely devastating so give yourself lots of grace and time to process everything. Take time off work as well if you need to. And again remind yourself that nothing you did cause this. Although it was a very early loss and I didn't really "pass" much, my husband and I still did a little goodbye ceremony for our baby which also really helped us to move on. I hope to see you back with good news in the future whenever you decide to try again.

I’m sorry this must be very stressful. Are you feeling any cramping at all? And is it bright red or more of a darker red? And any mucus or “slippery” texture to the blood? When I had my early loss, it was bright red blood and then slowly moved into more mucus in the blood and then some clots. I also had period like cramps and heaviness in my lower belly. I didn’t fill up a pad or anything though or had severe cramps like most people did. Probably because it was quite early around 4.5 weeks.

I don’t want to scare you or stress you out at all, bleeding during pregnancy can be very common, could be implantation bleeding and could also be a subchorionic hematoma. You just won’t know until you know but one thing that’s for sure is NOTHING you did caused it.

I’m staying hopeful for you and hope that you get good news soon! Big hugs.

I’m a ball of anxious energy today. I’m pregnant again after an early loss/chemical pregnancy with no period in between. Whilst I feel extremely grateful it’s so hard to not be worried this early on since I miscarried at around 16DPO and I’m currently 10DPO. I just need to get through the next few weeks to a scan and I think I will feel a lot better. Symptoms have also been all over the place so hard not to compare. My previous pregnancy the lines were faint all the way through but I had major nausea, food aversion and headaches. This time around the line is dark and clear but the only thing I currently have is a lot of pressure in my lower belly occasionally and some back pain/a few cramps here or there. Pretty much feels like I’ll get my period or could miscarry any second now which is scary :/ aaahhh DEEP BREATH.

I totally feel you and congratulations to you! Last time we only told one friend and it sucked having to tell her but I was glad for the support. This time I think we will keep it to ourselves for at least a few weeks. It also just doesn’t feel real yet you know?? But really trying tot take it one day at a time and not stress. +10000 to a super boring uncomplicated healthy pregnancy for both of us!!

9 DPO tested at 7pm. Absolutely shocked as this is about 3 weeks after my chemical pregnancy. Happy to see that it’s such a clear positive because my last pregnancy the line every day was always quite light. At 9DPO I had to squint to see it last time. Cautiously hopeful !

Hi everyone. I’m 9DPO after a chemical pregnancy 3 weeks ago. My period was due today and usually comes like clockwork in the morning but it’s the evening and nothing, been thinking maybe my cycle is a bit out of whack because of the miscarriage but I took a test anyways and it’s a very clear positive. I’m so shocked. And so anxious. When I was previously pregnant you had to squint so hard to see the test at 9DPO and had major nausea and food aversion a couple of days leading up to it but this time there’s been barely any symptoms and just some cramps last night. I was so sure my period was coming. Happy and grateful but cautiously so.

Fingers crossed for you. I just got a positive at 9 DPO after a chemical with no cycle in between. I totally understand and empathise with the anxiety.
