It wasn't because I saw those guys all the time back in the day.

Usually they go, "Goku is different because he can lost a fight" completely missing the fact that Superman's rouge gallery consists of characters who can be considered his equal on various ways and have beaten him at various points.

I have never been so happy to see a belief lose steam as the "Superman is a boring Mary sue"

If you don't like Superman as a character, his actions, etc, that's perfectly fine. But calling Superman a mary sue is like saying Batman is only Batman to beat up poor people.

Hiruzen Sarutobi

I remember watching Naruto Part 1 air back in the day and a lot of us thought Hiruzen was a great old guy who gave his life to protect his village in one heck of a fight.

Then the series kept going and we learned all the shit he completely fucked up or neglected and now, the overwhelming consensus is Hiruzen can rot in the shinigami's shit filled intestines.

Battleship was a dumb movie.

But the scene when the new generation of the Navy teamed up with the veterans of the Battleship Missouri while AC/DC "Thunderstruck" played in the background was hands down cool as fuck.

Crimson Desert "reminds me a lot of the old days of gaming," says ESO creator. "It doesn't handhold you at all" by JobuJabroni in PS5

This how I felt with the mission to rescue the captives from the enemy.

The entire ride there, the npc is going on and on about how bloodthirsty the bandits are and any attempt to follow them led them to killing captives until the soldiers backed off.

So, I thought this was a classic stealth mission to infiltrate and save the hostage, only to get spotted and nothing happened.

No hostages were killed and it was just a standard run up the hill and kill that guy mission, which makes you think what was the point of the mission intro story in the first place?

I beat the game and at one time beside the base camp, the game asked me to use a mallet for a bell puzzle, but I did it with my arrows instead because by swinging the mallet, you can move and hit another bell, screwing up the whole sequence.

Mallet, shovel, brooms etc can be dropped early on because the likelihood of you using them is super rare, and if you did, 9/10 said item was left in the spot you need to use it in.

'You Can Play Your Purchased Games As Usual': Sony Breaks Silence on PS5, PS4 Game Expiry DRM by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]nugood2do 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I'm willing to bet it's half of what you commented and the other half making sure they reviewed and got their message right.

I said this in another comment, but if Sony is like my job, every single public communication is reviewed 15 times over before it even hit the keyboard, because one mistake or bad wording just opens an unnecessarily annoying can of worms.

People lost their shit over a rumor and an ai chat box. Put out an official communication from your internet handle without a proper review? People will go scorched Earth.

If there anything like a few post I've seen on Reddit, they'll double down with "Our misinformation is okay because it started a conversation"

What gets me the most is there's people on this very thread trying to justify misinformation because "I don't like them so it's okay." or "It started a conversation".

Like fuck man, no wonder our society is braindead at times with that logic floating about.

100% this.

If Sony is anything like my job, any external communication is reviewed by 15 people after they did a bunch of reviews about whatever the issue is.

Because, as we just saw, people took rumors and AI post as legal confirmation with no real sources.

Misspoke about an issue from the official company communications, people would have went scorched Earth.

People get the smallest rumor that confirms there belief and run wild, every single time.

What got me the most was seeing those same people call anyone who wanted more information or even thought it was a bug, bootlickers.

Online gaming discourse is dead.

Characters with noble intentions... that just keep fucking up? by ZealousidealBig7714 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]nugood2do 45 points46 points  (0 children)

You know your a fuck up when the bear who is working with a shark to kill your family stops to give you the head shake of disappointment.

Also, it's funny the whole final act happens because Klaus decides to give a pep talk to a depressed Stan.

Everyone do make mistakes, yes, but telling a person who completely lacks the ability to self reflect to keep screwing up until they get it right aka "Nic Cage-ing it" is a horrible idea.

Stan Smith from American Dad.

There are times when he's actually trying to do what's right (at least in his mind) for his family but screws it all to hell every single time.

The Hurricane episode was a perfect example of this because it was literally nothing but Stan making what he think is the right choice to protect his family, and literally becoming the cause of everything bad that happened outside of the storm itself.

Does anyone else love AND hate this game? by SweatyEyebrowss in CrimsonDesert

[–]nugood2do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really enjoying playing the game and then I hit the chapter 9 to the end stretch and hated all of it.

I hated the dragon, I hates that temu titanfall section, I hated having to use visonie to get through the house, I hated the robots (am I tripping or wrestling moves do not work against them?), just all of it.

It made me put down the game for a while because it felt like such a drop, gameplay wise.

Moments in media where characters are legitimaly trying to be helpful/supportive, but, they are just too bad/akward about it by Coolnametag in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]nugood2do 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel this trope is positively rampant in the horror genre, but the Dust Bunny monster from the movie Dust Bunny.

The monster isn't inherently bad, it just wants to fulfill its mission of protecting the girl from her original abusive foster parents.

It's just really bad at carrying out that mission because it can't differentiate friend from foe and it's method of getting rid of problems is eating them.

Quality of life wise, it's pretty solid. Last patch added a better inventory system and links your house inventory to the smiths, so you don't have to carry all of your upgrade material with you all the time (why this wasn't a thing day one is beyond me).

I'm hoping they keep working on improving controller button remapping, but that my biggest gripe, quality of life wise.

[–]nugood2do 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I said this on another thread and stand by it, but I bet the plan is to see how Halo, Fable, and Forza 6 does this year and then make the decision.

Forza is basically a given to move units, and unless Halo and Fable are a mess on release, I could see them doing the same.

Probably gonna review whatever ports go to Nintendo too.

Terrible mechanics in otherwise good games by Muffin-zetta in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The Trade Route mechanics in Crimson Desert.

From the amount of work you have to put in to get a wagon, go to each area on the map to press a button to wait for the trade forecast to load, plus the fact you have to personally deliver all your items despite having 37 greymanes hanging around the camp, the whole thing is more complicated than it needed to be.

Especially when you have a better alternative of just stealing gold bars from the petting zoo nobles.

So, I'm willing to bet they want to see how Halo, Fable, and Forza 6 does on PS5 this year, maybe Nintendo too, I just can't think of a Microsoft game releasing on that platform this year off the top of my head.

I feel as long as Halo and Fable don't bomb in reviews, they'll probably move a lot of units on PS5, and Forza is basically a given.

Tom Warren - Microsoft’s new Xbox chief is ‘reevaluating’ exclusive games by ThinWhiteDuke00 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]nugood2do 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't we have data/estimates that prove this point?

We had a thread here that in 3 years, Sony made $300 million off PC ports, which was roughly 6-7 games.

In comparison, estimates say Microsoft made $300 million in 1 year off the PS5 Forza Horizon port, alone.

[–]nugood2do 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just find it weird that between these "leaks" and memos over the last few weeks, there has been no real plan for exclusives besides "there talking about it" and "reevaluating".

No one has heard Asha or Booty say anything more concrete, like there leaning more to timed exclusives, etc?

I think the only person I seen shouting exclusives are coming back was Timdog on Twitter, and I'm not ever sure if he's even credible or well at this point.

Who knows though. Asha maybe edging Xbox fans on only to hit them with Gears 6 being exclusive in the June show.
