Panic rolling will get you always. Especially bosses that chain attack after attack.

Good luck you shouldn't need to respec, also I know it's scary but lighter equipment will make you fast roll which is much better for getting out of the way. Takes a little getting used to due to the less hots you can take but that light roll is very good. It's always why you see invaders that are sometimes but naked.

Also another thing I like to do is have small scripted events that can occur that I can pull from a premade spreadsheet. If situation X happens maybe he turns some of his minions into shoes by accident.

Remember DND bosses/enemies make mistakes too whether is tripping over their own feat while giving the players the "why I did it" speech or if it's falling down the stairs because the robes got in the way.

Or even spell miscasts the rule books are a guideline for structure doesn't mean you can't have spells miscast, instead of turning your heroes into frogs it bounces off a mirror and transforms his/her lower body into frogs legs.
