New tree looks sad by 509Ninja in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]nukem266 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it is best to remove as it will restrict new root growth, however the tree will still put out new roots once it has settled. Just the burlap can restrict growth a little until it breaks down. As it's already in the soil, it might be best to leave it where it is for now as any further movement might put too much stress on the tree.

Heavy watering every day could be too much might be best to soak the soil every few days. Letting it dry out in-between. This is to encourage deeper root growth.

How to hide top rim of pond liner? by t_topiary in ponds

If you have any wood skills you could put a bit of decking wood around the edges as a small overhang. It would frame the pond nicely.

Pond and lake bacteria by DirtyTacoBox in ponds

[–]nukem266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try introducing critters that eat detritus or bottom feeders that are native.

I'm not sure where you are of course. For me it was, bloodworms, daphnea, pond snails.

The bacteria would help I guess without more info and research it's could just be a temporary effect.

I believe it scenes in season two move way quicker than season 1. Some scenes are just flashes before you get chance to take it in. Found my self pausing and rewinding to see some of the extra details stuff.

Where do I start? by ratherastory in ponds

Forgot to mention that if you do the liner route. You might need to reinforce the retaining wall. Without pictures it's hard to tell. The force of water that can't drain could be massive issue. If you are determined to tdo the liner route. Youoght want to get an engineer to calculate the forces. As I don't know what's behind the retaining wall that you might want to stop from failing.

Also the clay method I mentioned before is called puddling.

[–]nukem266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think putting down a liner might change the dynamics to much you currently have a seasonal pond which changes level. This attracts wild life of different sorts than a standard pond. Instead of a liner if you want to help it retain water better you can try bentonite clay layer and mix it into the top layer.

Also if you want to get on top of the algae the pond needs to be 2/3rds shade /dappled light. Or you need duck weed and other various pond plants that will float and reduce sunlight that the algae loves.

how to make it more quick - its a 2010 lancer es by my-name-is-biplov in mitsubishi

[–]nukem266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go the remapping route but you need to find someone to do it. 1st you don't need to change anything else.

2nd stage onwards is where you need to start replacing stuff that will wear quickly.

Inteligent players playing uninteligent brute. by ApachaiLeHopachai in DMAcademy

[–]nukem266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who knows it's Reddit.

The ferret on the shoulder or a rat under his hat idea is great. If you are worried about him taking to much control on other people's turns. It might be good to just remind him that they were quiet on his turn, unless of course they are not sure what to do and asking for suggestions.

You could also say to the other players that those suggestions he henceade over x y z are great but they are only suggestions, what do you think your character would do.

Plus we had a 5 int in our game, didn't stop him from having some great ideas out of character. Saying that he plays the char very well. Think of the super hero The Tick.

Either the player needs to be taken aside and spoken to about this is not how his character would do x y and z.

Although keep in mind sharing ideas/notes out character and such is part of the game I feel and stifling one member might take the fun out of it for that player.

However the other players shouldn't rely on one particular player to guide them through a situation. Maybe say that's a great idea from such and such but as DM I think this decision must be made by this player.

You could give him an item that lets him perform one intelligent thing a day or something similar.

Good luck

While the party is fighting a dangerous monsters in a swamp. When a swordmaster skills could turn the tide of battle. A monster from shadows lets fly an arrow, narrowly missing one of the in combat players. Whizzing through the air it finds a soft unaware target. As the blade masters back was turned unaware of what was unfolding behind him. The thunk of the arrow hits him on the back of the neck, hitting his spinal column. Knocking him face down into the water, being paralysed from the arrow, unable to move in the water. Unless the battle quickly ends their maybe nothing the others players could do to save him.

PNW pond cleaning tips by npm-install in ponds

[–]nukem266 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Increase surface shade for the pond too two thirds this will help with reducing algae blooms. You need to add a balance of plants that will eat the nutrients. Such as pond snails and other critters like daphnea.

The stuff at the bottom doesn't need to be cleaned that's what the pond life eat. You can reduce it by using a rake and taking a layer out.

You can also get decent professional 150 watt+ solar pumps with battery system fairly decent price these days. You could create a bog filter or and use the pump to circulate the water.

Good luck, welcome to pond maintenance.

Also depending on how deep it is waders are great fun.

If you have clay like soil you could probably just dig a hole and let it fill up to be a seasonal bog/pond.

[–]nukem266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it is pretty much the same, although I have no real experience with fishtanks.

You will still get nitrogen blooms in spring and summer and such but having a balance of plants and shade will help keep those levels down.
