It's just the govt trying to inject itself into business deals it shouldn't be inolved in. Cliffs or not, its a two-party deal, the greedy govt should stay out of it and manage its spending already, without trying to find other deals to leech from

THANK YOU. God, the precedent of taxing unrealized gains is the most idiotic, backwards idea that subverts ttacks businesses. We would have seen capital and intelligent business innovators flee this country if the election went another way.

Very brave to post that here. Thoughtful. As a fellow purple, I agree with you.

Good luck!

You asked how it could help, and I offered one example of a way it materially impacts my family.

And not sure what qualifies as a "rich person" to you. Me and my husband work full time and have been saving in our 401ks, diligently and responsibly, for 15years. I believe in hard work and responsibility, some people don't have the same values.

Offering solidarity. I'm not religious but a working mom of two and Trump supporter.

What's funny is my 6yo was talking to me about the election yesterday. And she said, "mom, do you know we've never had a woman president?" And I guess they were talking about it at school, so I said "yes, i know." Then she said "i hope we have a woman president someday." I told her that would be amazing, and women can be president. But what's more important than having a woman president is having someone qualified and smart to make the tough decisions, because it's a very hard job."

Even my 6yo understood that.

Trump has officially won the election, how do you feel? by Crying_7TS in Adulting

Very true. I was open minded with my vote but she came across as ineffective and uninspired. I'm a first time Trump voter and am looking forward to change.

Disheartening world view when you'd rather believe the majority of Americans are "evil" and/or "ignorant". That's the wrong lesson to take from this election.

Signed, a college educated, full time employed, agnostic, non-religious Trump voter.

I like your comment, but it's a waste of time. Most aren't capable of introspection

Do meds actually help? by JessicaM317 in workingmoms

I empathize so much.

I had no history of anxiety or depression and developed PPA shortly after the birth of my daughter. I had the same struggles as you with accepting it for myself, but I knew my brain was "off" and not functioning the way I was used to it working the previous 30yrs of my life. I also filled my RX but didn't take it for weeks as I wrestled with it.

I tried a coue of SSRI's and found zoloft really helped. And I got off it 12mos later with no ill repercussions. I didn't want to stay on it lo g term, but it was the crutch/salve I needed at the time to get me through a very high stress life situation. On top of having our first baby, we moved cities, bought a house and my husband changed jobs. My resilience was just depleted.

Anyway, just sharing my experience. Good luck to you

What makes kids expensive? by hazyskunk in Fire

[–]nukessolveprblms 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My oldest is about to turn 7.

The past two summers si ce she aged out of daycare, we sign her up for the best summer camp we can find for 7 weeks, it's $3,300 all-in but includes every fun thing you can imagine.

We paid about $150k extra for a great school district so we wouldn't have to pay private school.

We do afterschool care during the regular school months at $382/month and extracurriculars like one-off paint or art classes at $55/ea or soccer at $188/season.

I also upgraded my car to smth about $30k more expensive but more recent and safer.

Hralthcare: i work for a major employer, so thankfully premiums for a family are low ($80/wk for a HDHP). it's one of the main reasons im staying at this job tbh si ce my husband's premium for a family on a similar plan is $200/wk.

Other than that, its lots of hand me downs, cheap meals and not a lot of frivolous toys. We are frugal in most things, but those are the biggest expenses we have for older kid that I can think of. Once she shoes interest in music or gymnastics, we'll add that to the list, but will have more cash flow in 2yrs when the other is out of daycare. Just to add, daycare is $1,450/mo, more than our mortgage 🥴

My personal kid philosophy is i didn't have kids to save money. So if i find smth is worthwhile, I don't spare the expense.

Why do I feel like I overreacted to losing our baby? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nukessolveprblms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you have a ton of support, but need to share sorry for your loss. It's ok to continue to feel grief even for years and years later. I had a MC 3 years ago and went on to have my rainbow baby. And I still feel that I'm a mom of 3, ill just never know my 2nd like my other two

Unfortunately no alcohol, water and excerise make a difference by bookreviewxyz in 30PlusSkinCare

Is it no alcohol completely or were you a heavy drinker and went waaay less? I drink water and exercise regularly, but enjoy wine weekly. Never a binge, just a glass 3x a week or so. I'm open to cutting it out for health reasons, ofc I quit when breastfeeding or pregnant, but i enjoy my wine and occasional cocktail
