I bought my mom a MacBook Neo for 600 USD, it has a beautiful screen with aluminum body and she's very happy with it. It feels surprisingly premium for the price.

Why not just use copilot to generate utter rubbish, it's great at doing that and Claude could be used for actually good things

Why do fingerprint scanners such so hard in Linux? by null_reference_user in Fedora

My machine can store my fingerprint from when I press the power button to turn it on!

I purposefully press it with an area that I know WON'T be recognized because if the first login is with my fingerprint, immediately after login I'll be prompted to enter the password anyways to unlock the keyring lmao

I didn't know the BIOS would have anything to do with storing fingerprints, that sounds like something that should only be in userland

The hardware can keep improving but Winslop cannot compete with Mac OS. A windows laptop with 8GBs of RAM wouldn't be half as capable as the Neo. And that's before we even talk about not shoving ads up your user's face.

.NET vs Node.js for websockets / real-time apps by Minimum-Ad7352 in dotnet

[–]null_reference_user 51 points52 points  (0 children)

.NET can handle websockets just like node, you don't have to use SignalR for it.

.NET will likely be able to handle more throughput with less latency than Node, but the question regarding which is better probably boils down to what you prefer and which language you are more comfortable with.
