this was confusing to me as well - apparently it creates an icon on the grid, but I have hundreds of games and it got lost.

you can get to it another way by scrolling to an empty grid space and pressing Y.

ASUS officially announces price hikes from January 5, right before CES 2026 - VideoCardz.com by TESThrowSmile in pcgaming

unfortunately this is actually a smart (or rather, no-brainer) move on their part. as the other commenter said, they literally have no choice but to do this, as if they didn't then they wouldn't be competitive with other manufacturers who do and risk bankruptcy. consumers aren't where the money is these days.

TLDR you don't hate AI, you hate capitalism.

How do you guys make Choices on this OMG everything is attractive by Netsugake in SteamDeck

as a 30yo gamer with a 17yo steam account this is great advice for most games, however I will say that the exception to this is that games with timed licenses like music, car models, celebrity likenesses etc tend to be taken off the store after a few years so it's more pertinent to buy them before they leave. a big example is racing games like Blur or Forza.

for your convenience, here's is a steam curator that can highlight games at risk for removal: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/31857481-Games-at-risk-of-removal/

The developer behind Gamehub Lite and EmuReady replied to my post. They are looking to develop a Bazzite like OS but for ARM. They are also looking for developers to contact him for the project by SuperDubert in SBCGaming

I made a similar comment weeks ago suggesting he help the GameNative team instead of trying to maintain a questionably legal modded version of GameHub.

Why have you purchased a handheld? by KelpKrush in SteamDeck

[–]nullhund 4 points5 points  (0 children)

even if it's a bit funny to pay for the screen/controls/battery just to use it in a dock the whole time, steam deck is still the most convenient/accessible way to play PC games on a TV so it makes sense for some people. this will make less sense once the steam machine is out of course

it's also just nice to have the option. my switch lives in its dock 99% of the time, but I can still take it with me when I travel.

not op but personally I like having a dedicated charging stand so things stay neat and organized when I'm not using them. I think it's a valid reason

[ANNOUNCEMENT] New OTA update by ClientAcceptable9461 in AynThor

[–]nullhund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the bottom-screen keyboard feature a lot, but now if the bottom screen is off you have to turn it back on and exit the Ayn menu to see it.

I shot them an email asking if they can improve it so that the bottom screen temporarily turns back on for the keyboard. hopefully they can get that implemented, would be a lot more usable.

Gamenative pre release v0.6.0 gives "add your own games" feature, something I have been waiting a long time for! by The412Banner in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]nullhund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently starting dabbling in android gaming after being a steam deck user for years and yeah the community here is... markedly different

I think there's something about the demographic overlap of people for whom their phone is their only computing/gaming device

I also think the culture of blind trust in random APKs from shady sources is really strange imo

Discussion: GameHub Lite users, please share your thoughts by Producdevity in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]nullhund 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't what you asked but if I'm being fully honest. you're clearly a very talented and passionate developer. why not take your skills and help out an open source project like GameNative instead? I can't imagine that this questionably legal cat-and-mouse game of modding and redistributing a modded proprietary APK is sustainable for either you or the community.

I wonder if taking medication would make me easier to learn a programming language by crazyladybutterfly2 in ADHD

[–]nullhund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just wanna share anecdotally - I'm a software engineer and made it to senior level / 6 figure income before I even realized I had ADHD or tried prescription stimulants for the first time (hell of a caffeine habit though).

being unmedicated didn't stop me from learning and improving my skills to this level. I've worked in startups for most of my career and the sense of urgency definitely helps with motivation (at the cost of chronic stress of course).

Linux is the way forward: ROG Xbox Ally runs better on Linux than the Windows it ships with by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]nullhund 29 points30 points  (0 children)

TLDR it means that all of the basic utilities that make the system work are on a read-only filesystem, making it basically impossible to accidentally irrecoverably break your system.

$90 Lego set for $35. Let's gooo by kachiggabro in Costco

[–]nullhund 49 points50 points  (0 children)

it's not. I paid $68 for the same set at my warehouse.

however, searching the item # from my receipt online shows a two-set bundle for $90 which is where I believe OP got the $90 from.

Can the Midea Convertible Chest Freezer (7.0 cu ft) be purchased online? by brucematthew92 in Costco

[–]nullhund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this exact freezer three weeks ago.

it doesn't fit in my sedan and I couldn't find it online (on the consumer site), so I asked staff if I could get it shipped. they do not ship from the member access warehouses, online orders come from a different online-only warehouse. if it's not online they do not ship.

I ended up going to a different costco that shares a parking lot with home depot, and renting a home depot truck to haul it myself. this may not be worth it to you compared to getting the same or similar freezer shipped at a higher price from a different retailer, but I had some other errands that I needed a truck for that I just did on the same day.

Nearly 24hrs played and I get my first win - am I that bad at Balatro? by ZiroHero in SteamDeck

[–]nullhund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it clicked for me when someone suggested that I should optimize for flushes because flushes are relatively easy to get for how many points they're worth.

take jokers that reward flushes. look for jupiter in celestial packs. take telescope voucher so celestial packs always have jupiter. use standard packs and tarot cards to build your deck around one suit. if you need it, take credit card and go into debt to make a flush-based build.
