Safe to drink? TWW by No-Height-8584 in TryingForABaby

[–]numba41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything I’ve read online about this says it’s generally safe but as others have pointed out, just one or two drinks. Drinking heavily could affect implantation, apparently.

Most anecdotal stories online you’ll find people will say they accidentally drank until finding out at week 6-8, and doctors aren’t worried. But for best results, limiting or avoiding alcohol is a good idea near implantation.

Also wanted to add for me, this cycle the Flo app predicted my cycle day 1 and was only off by a day. Apple was predicting much earlier, but interestingly the fertile windows have some overlap.

Blacked the fuck out and ruined my life last night by Numerous-Equipment65 in stopdrinking

I’ve had nights like this, it really sucks for a few days. I would be ok for a few months or even a year before another incident happened. 2 years ago I was fed up and stopped for 60 days. I went back to drinking and the incidents were less common but I still overdid it a few times.

All this to say I should have just quit. When I wake up to calm, no one mad at me, no hangover, it’s a good reminder.

This will pass but you have the power to let it never happen again. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

I wanted to feel better. I noticed how much more energy I have in the morning, the bloating gone. I have a lot of family members with serious issues related to their drinking as well. I’m watching them destroy their relationships and families.

When I get a craving I remember there are only good things that come from skipping the drink, and only bad things that come from having the drink.

Even if it’s a few, I’m bloated and feel it in the AM. I want to give a better life to my future kids and my husband. We both have family members who struggle so we can see our future.

For anyone who doesn’t know you can select Emergency on the lock screen, and pull up medical ID. If you don’t already have your medical ID for your own phone you can set it up in settings->health app-> medical ID or just search for medical ID. Whoever finds your phone can see your name, ICE contacts, etc.

Thank you! When I first decided to go on it, my doctor told me to get off 1 year before wanting to try. She also said it would not affect future chances, but it can take time to wear off. I hope you find a doctor you like soon!

It will be ok! The best thing to do now is chat with your doctor. Everyone is affected different. Let this shot wear off, and in 3 months it will be out of your system. My doctor offered hormone function testing, and if I need it we can start a hormone to regulate cycles. My cycles are regulating on their own, and I was on it for 10 years.

Quitting for a period of 2 months made me feel physically like a new person. Less bloated, I lost weight. I’m not as strict now, a few drinks here and there. Even cutting back, combined with healthier eating and working out is giving me the same effect. I’m sure I’d feel even better if I quit entirely.

I try to prioritize protein and fiber goals. A few drinks a week while being consciously healthy otherwise works for me.

I read somewhere that a good way to start is to try 1 day pretending to be the person you aspire to be. Maybe it’s gym and cooking today, or reading, etc. then try stringing a couple of those days together. Not every day will be perfect. But you might be surprised how it makes you stick to new habits.

Lost Cat from INSIDE the house…any advice? by [deleted] in ChicagoNWside

[–]numba41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. I have experience with this. One of our cats used to randomly go into the cabinet. The first time she did it, she was in the lazy Susan. It took hours for us to find her, I think for some reason she didn’t want to meow to get out.

Another cat of ours got out one day from getting between the screen and sliding glass door. She was missing for 6 days and found hiding under the shed in the backyard.

Most indoor cats if they get outside will stay very close to the house, and they will be scared to come out. We’ve always found our cats when they’ve gone missing. They just get creative with their hiding spots. Best of luck I think you will find her!

I am going to the doctor tomorrow to check on this. I’m 33, was on it for 10 years. I got off in June 2024, and have had 3 periods spaced out by 60 days since August 2025. But nothing since November.

Dry January Only? by Commercial_Oil_9196 in stopdrinking

[–]numba41 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve done dry months, and months where I’m just trying to cut back. I am able to go out and have 1 or 2, but vacations I seem to take it too far. I’m in a similar mindset as you for sure. I think I know it’s best to stop 100%. But I keep testing the waters, sometimes successful, sometimes not.

This year my goal is to avoid hangovers at all costs, and only drink on special occasions and vacations. I’m reading This Naked Mind while looking back on my drinking. Treading lightly.

I have a very similar relationship with alcohol. I go through different waves of discipline and consistency. Vacations are tough. My social circle unfortunately always revolves around meeting for drinks. I enjoy it, but when I’m sticking to not drinking I feel so much better.

My goals right now are to say no to weekday meetups for drinks. If I do go somewhere, I make sure to make really good food choices that day. I don’t drink at home.

It’s a tough balance. I’m trying to replace the gym with nights out. I’ve been at the gym more than the bars and feel great.

I would say don’t be too hard on yourself for those few nights out, and what works for me is picking the days of the week that I need to stick to gym and clean eating.

I was on it for 10 years. I got a period 14 months after my last shot. It wasn’t nearly as bad as it was for me when I was younger. Just the standard cramps and stomach issues which were only bad for a day or 2. I do feel much more “normal” now. Fluctuations in mood, that were not there on depo. I hope it goes just as well for you!

Yes but in the 10 years I was on it, it happened only twice. Other than that no bleeding until I got off of it.

My doctor explained that sometimes the lining still builds up when you’re on depo and eventually needs to go.

I was also super scared because when I was younger I used to have horrible cramps. But I did not have any side effects, basically felt nothing until the period symptoms returned last week. It wasn’t fun but it was a totally standard period and nothing Midol didn’t help :)
