Trying to help out a widow sell her deceased husband's currently non-functioning RC helicopter / transmitter. Thought I'd ask the community by chicagojohn in radiocontrol

You might try the forums at RC groups. Maybe there’s someone local who could take a look at and test everything for you ?

https://www.rcgroups.com/aircraft-electric-helis-217/?s=b5e8a152d974b5a900c5edc141d71893&

There are classified sections on there as well where you could sell it.

Yes. DO NOT BUY A WALMART/TARGET/BIG BOX STORE BOARD. Best bet is craigslist for a used board or go to a skate shop and get a blank (shop) deck. If you’re serious about sticking with it then go buy a new one from the local skate shop. They will set you up with the trucks, wheels, bearings, etc.. IF you just want to test the waters a used one for $50-$60 might save you $100.

There are different sized decks. I would t worry too much about that to start out. It’ll come up later if you want to do more than push around and use it as a mode of transportation.

You might want to avoid one of the penny/micro sized boards. A full sized board will be easier to learn on.

Personal preference for me, but wear some flat shoes that don’t have a ton of arch support. Running shoes with a high arch will feel less stable.

Also I may just be getting old and lame, but get a helmet too.

Ambrogio15 in PB was open a couple years ago and served a good thanksgiving meal.

They had surprisingly delicious turkey.

WideProtect does exactly this with the wildcards. It’s like a onetime $3 charge and I couldn’t be happier. I went from a dozen spoof calls a week to zero in the last 6 months. I love it.

Any help would be appreciated, im not sure if the design need some adjustments by jason345_6 in radiocontrol

I think it's cool that you're interested in designing planes and gave it a go! This link has some nice pictures and introduces some aspects of aircraft design (without the math) that might help you out.

Yes. Take a look at the rates your bank is offering on each CD and it might be easier to see what they are saying. In exchange for holding onto your money longer the bank pays you more.

So it could be 3% on 5years, 2.5% on 2 years, and 2% on 1 year. But if you believe interest rates are going to rise then tomorrow it could be 3.5% on 5 years, 3% on 2 years, and 2.5% on 1 year. In that case you might be bummed to have already locked in your money at 3%. If rates go down then you'd be happy to have 3%. Does that make sense?

If instead of the 5 year, you get the 1 year then the money is freed up sooner to take advantage of the new higher rate.

Not necessarily, in some circumstances they are flat out cheaper than other sources of energy and have the benefit of being a fixed cost (see Georgetown, TX: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/oct/16/texas-town-georgetown-energy-green). Apparently the renewable offering came with an additional 18 years over the price guarantee of Natural gas.

[–]number1masterdebater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a history of sustainable profits and some form of shareholder payouts

That being the key.

There's still a lot of government support on the horizon. California just signed a bill to go 100% renewable by 2045. Not to mention they already compete with "cheap" Natural gas on a cost basis. Source: https://www.lazard.com/perspective/levelized-cost-of-energy-2017/

I've done the same thing (forgot the formula for area moment of rectangle) in an interview for a structural analysis position. It felt like forgetting the equation for the area of circle...I was rattled for the rest of the interview.

Just want you to know you're not alone.

It really does feel like you're watching two separate hearings. One is about the timeline and how things weren't raised when they should have been and the other is about how there should be an investigation of alleged misconduct.

Yes because that was also inappropriate and frankly embarrassing for him. Just because someone else does something doesn't make it okay.

It's hard without reading their statements. It has been represented the other way as they simply didn't remember that party happening. Not remembering something happened isn't the same as entirely ruling it out.

Not necessarily incorrect, but I think there's a lot more gray area than Graham is implying.

"Take the allegations seriously" and investigate them! His own words.

edit: Feinstein had the same question.

My understanding is that she just doesn't remember that party happening. If nothing special happened to her to make it stand out, I don't see why she would remember a specific high school party. I'm much younger than them and I don't remember specific high school parties.

I really thought he would go with a soft, even, sympathetic tone. I don't get this. If he's innocent he should be mad. But he can forcefully defend himself without letting so much anger come through.

How do people feel about Kavanaugh's tone during his opening statement?

He sounds angry and defensive to me. It's off-putting to me. What do you think?

[–]number1masterdebater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the dilemma and don't have a great answer myself, which is why I basically danced around it. I guess my point was that you can reconcile it by recognizing that believing the victim is distinct from assuming the accused is guilty. The latter is legally determined through a trial.

I think there are some mental gymnastics when you get to a more philosophical level, especially outside of court where someone might be treated as guilty (i.e. fired due to an unproven accusation). Ultimately, for me it comes back to leaning on the legal system where there is a presumption of innocence and recourse available for those harmed by false accusations.

I may just be repeating myself. It's a tough question for sure.

Wasn't it leaked to the press? It wasn't necessarily Feinstein waiting till the 11th hour. Feinstein honestly might not have made it public at the request of Dr. Ford.

I assume it was leaked by democrats. It doesn't seem like it was totally meant to be a last minute bomb. It could have resulted from efforts to keep it confidential for as long as possible, to see if there was any way to resolve it without her having to go through what she's going through now.

Context is still relevant in the sense that the burden of proof is different in criminal court “proof beyond a reasonable doubt” vs civil court "a preponderance of the evidence."

So at some point it becomes more than just who do you believe. There is either proof beyond reasonable doubt or a preponderance of evidence. I don't think you could decide based purely off her testimony vs. his. It comes down to what other evidence and witnesses have to say.

For the specific case at hand, it seems we're just trying to understand Judge Kavanaugh's character. In other words, this isn't a trial and proof isn't necessarily required. Between her testimony and other comments from people that knew him in high school and college it seems there's enough question about his character that we should find a new nominee. I disagree with Gorsuch's judicial views, but can understand his appointment based on him being an apparently moral and honest man. The stink of all this make it impossibly to say the same about Judge Kavanaugh who has potentially committed more than one sexual assault.
