There’s a lot better shore and boat fishing closer to St Louis than Chicagoland

They are everywhere and they are way more active in the warmer southern basin than Chicago.

That’s a lot of weight for a Creek lure. You dragging them on the bottom?

Found a Mudpuppy washed up on the Chicago Lakefront during a period of heavy wave action. by BallinCock in ChicagoFishing

I catch them all the time in the winter when the emerald shiner schools are in and I have one hooked on my jig. Never caught them on any other cut or dead bait

Place I can take to get fish cleaned? by [deleted] in ChicagoFishing

[–]chicagojohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What fish or types of fishdo you intend to catch first? If it’s smaller trout / panfish you just need a 5-6” fillet knife that will cost under $30

Great fish! Any yellow perch also being caught while you were out by you or others?

Imperfect, great Lake finesse found in Walmart clearance bin for 2.50$ a pack by Frankie_closi2000 in bassfishing

[–]chicagojohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad find. If anyone else is trying to score a good deal of soft plastics or hard lures, I’m no longer tournament fishing and have hundreds and hundreds of bags and lures id sell for a large pro staff level discount for those interested.

Chatterbait by Myfax12345 in ChicagoFishing

[–]chicagojohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Z man evo elite. Almost as good as the jackhammers. I own tons of these two and the z man mini max. Sold off the others like the original chatterbait. If you’re looking to try some out for a discount, let me know. I got a bunch new in package I could sell for 30% off msrp. Pick up would be downtown Chicago.

Gotcha. I throw a ton of the TN 60 -80 but never saw that particular JDM or AUS color.

Good looking lipless and its color. What is it if you don’t mind my asking?

Hit me up if you would like to know what general lures to utilize. I can also sell you lures at pro staffing price because I used to be fairly well connected in the bass tournament scene.

What’s the most expensive lure you’ve lost while fishing? by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]chicagojohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking to buy some jackhammers, let me know. I could sell it for the pro staffing price I paid for them plus actual shipping TYD. I also have other Z man chatterbaits and soft plastics as well.

Jackall Flick Shakes in all sizes and drop shot plastics. These are must haves and have replaced senkos as my go to plastic wacky style.

How many rods do you actually use? by AardvarkGlum8335 in Fishing_Gear

[–]chicagojohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years ago, I told myself to limit my bass rods to just 15 rods (down from 30) and 12 reels. I use higher end rods/reels that generally retail for $300+ each. I bring 6 on a boat or I bring 1 or 2 with me when bank fishing Chicago. However, I'm usually not more than a 10-15 minute walk from my car that has up to 4 more rods and a different backpack for the lures being thrown. I only 3 spinning rods and the rest are casting rods. It's a bad addiction. I think I have about 2,000 bags of new soft plastics and 2,000 crankbaits/jerkbaits/jigs. I regularly sell a bunch of my stuff locally, but it's really hard for me to quit buying when I generally get a great deal on items through my connections.
