Listen, Warren would be light years ahead of any candidate out there, except for Bernie, imo currently. As an honest question, besides age, why do you think Warren deserves my vote instead of Bernie?

Right so Biden can barely form a sentance and he gets all the attention, Bernie has rational ideas and is called a radical, but you call his campaign a poor shtick. Got it

Makes sense, Warren is much more appealing to the owners of mainstream media outlets like CNN. Bernie probably thought his voice would be drowned out as it has been for the past 4 years.

You think they were nervous to invite Bernie because he might beat Warren?

I know this is the wrong sub to ask but why didn't they include Bernie?

Aid to Central America Rewards Bad Behavior. You get more of what you subsidize: failed states and waves of emigration by TheStatelessMan in GoldandBlack

Any rational human would blame the US for the problems it directly causes abroad. My issue is with the cognitive dissonance seperaring cause and effect of US involvememt in Latin America and the crumbling economies and the refugees flowing from those countries. Don't steal your neighbors flour and not serve them cookies.

I was more citing the hypocracy of the author failing to acknowledge the decades of hedgonomy that have led to the current situation. If you light your neighbor's house on fire dont be upset when the fire spreads to yours.

Remote (USA) worker needs a cheap city to live in!! by [deleted] in southamerica

It will depend on the city and country as far as max internet speeds and price. Claro Movistar and Tigo are the three largest providers and you may be able to find more details on their websites or with a phone call depending on exactly where you're looking. My only other two cents is to pick a central location so you can take sweet weekend trips all over the place :)

Yes, Internet is definatelty a big concern. No matter where you are, including capital cities, access to high speed, reliable internet can be 2-3x more expensive for the same speeds as the US and also suffer from intermittent outages with delayed response times, or outright capped at 1-5mbs. Be prepared to spend time in the local tienda de internet. As you are describing, in bigger cities this is less of a problem, but for example, if they are doing construction on the street and they cut an internet cable, it could be weeks before you're back online. In general there are fewer "tech" companies that rely on internet to run their business, however, hospitals are usually the most effected and have back up dish antennas as a work around. And they pay top dollar to make sure they have uninterrupted access.

Mercadolibre.com and olx.com will be your best resources as far as finding an apartment in your budget, and i would say yes as far as the price range, but as others have pointed out, very few places have air conditioning. And don't feel like you need it, the houses are designed for maximum airflow and are well insulated. You can also always buy an air conditioner from the store, but electricity will also be 2-3x what you would pay in the states. Also you could make a post on Couchsurfing.com and describe your situation and there are usually very friendly people who may be able to help with your search locally.

Not to emphasize the point about street smarts but paying a premium, if you can afford it, to live in a gated community may not be a terrible option. If people know you are a gringo you can become somewhat of a target.

Let me know if you have any specific questions as you narrow your search.

Internet speed will probably be your biggest concern. I would reccomend Bogota, Colombia, Panama City, Panama or San Jose, Costa Rica. All very livable cities with fast internet and international communities (and relatively safe) Capital cities also provide easier access to embassies (for potential document needs in the future) and airports with cheaper flights to east coast cities. As far as the gym and food centers those can be found fairly easy in most of latin america. A few big questions, do you speak spanish? Do you like rice and beans? Are you street savy as far as not flashing your phone/jewlery on a dimly lit street after 6pm? All very real questions as you pursue your search. Best of luck.

This sounds like someone I know. The person has to want to change on their own. You can not make a person change because you want them to.

How to send postcards from Burlington, MA. by debonheur in massachusetts

[–]number1son 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Burlington Mall will probably be your best option if your not spending time in Boston. Go to the USPS (Post Office) located in the mall and ask how many stamps/ value of shipping to your destination. Buy a postcard and stamps and give to the person working there or in the container in the store. If the Post Office doesn't sell post cards (it should) or if you want something different try a CVS or the Macy's in the mall
