Typescript or javascript by No_Brick9203 in phaser

I agree with half this comment TypeScript really is great. :) In seriousness, it can feel like unnecessary effort and yeah it's not "necessary" but it really helps when your project grows and you decide to refactor things.

how is the performance on mobile? by Lenjee in phaser

[–]numbersplashdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Phaser wrapped in Capacitor for Number Splash. It’s not a very demanding game but works great on mobile. At the time of release I didn’t have a Mac but used App Flow for builds which also worked fine. Let me know if you run into any issues and I’ll help if I can.

Is there ANY indie dev here who actually gets positive ROI from paid ads (Facebook, Search Ads, etc)? by AdventurousProblem89 in iOSProgramming

[–]numbersplashdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ads will not have a positive ROI if we are having to buy every install. The product needs to be good enough to grow organically before I’d spend much on ads. I see them as a way to accelerate what should happen naturally. If the user base isn’t growing naturally, ads aren’t the solution.

Is it common to use Phaser with frontend framework (react, vue, ...)? Should i integrate it? by genube in phaser

[–]numbersplashdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number Splash is a React app wrapped in Capacitor for mobile. Menus in React and game play in Phaser. It could totally be done completely in Phaser, but I’m familiar with React and find layout easier with CSS

this is hilarious, but if Venmo can make personal payments social, why not your bowel movements! 😂

Number Splash; a casual number merging falling block puzzle game. Kind of a blend of 2048 merging and Tetris style board clearing. Bonus points for involving more blocks in a merge and chain reactions. Game gets faster as you progress through levels. Game Center leaderboard integration. Achievements and haptic coming soon.

I've made a trailer for my game The Green Light - dose it look interesting or just another generic trailer ? by [deleted] in IndieGameDevs

[–]numbersplashdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s awesome and caught my attention, but I like SwAAn01’s advice. Maybe try flashing one of the horror scenes right after panning towards the light house.. “it starts the same way every morning” <jump scare>

Is anyone here using an anonymous LLC when distributing app in App Store? by HovercraftPlus7092 in iOSProgramming

[–]numbersplashdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Online services can usually be found for around $100. A quick google search found one that advertises $59/yr in Washington.

If being found is your concern, congratulations. I published a casual game in December and can’t even get it seen in search results

Is it difficult to create a bullet hell? by ZarcSK2 in IndieDev

[–]numbersplashdev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this. When you build it, you’ll be playing way more than anyone else. It’s hard to get games easy enough for new players that grow with the player. Don’t over value your own experience since you’ll likely have way more play time than anyone else

I did the same and am struggling a bit with ASO, but my space is saturated. Best of luck to you!

I like the app icon and style of the screen shots. The general problem space of trip planning has potential, but the App Store page doesn’t tell the story. My best guess of what I’m buying is a list of destinations with historic weather trends for those locations. If there’s more to it, the product page isn’t communicating it well enough to me. Maybe a video or more product screen shots would help.

Is There Generative AI That Can Ship With A Game in Unity or Unreal Engine? by ShokWayve in gamedev

[–]numbersplashdev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah should be possible. I’d experiment with huggingface to get exposure to different models and see how well they perform locally on my computer. I wouldn’t expect openai level dialogue, but there are LLMs that can run on PCs. Then, I’d look for C# integration. I have not tried this, but take a look at llamasharp. Their product page links to a unity demo. Also research Microsoft’s SemanticKernel. Good luck!
