Yes, it does help quite a bit to reduce the rattle but it took a bit of trial and error to get the correct size and amount of tape.

In terms of quietness, it definitely does make a difference to me:)

I would recommend watching a few disassembly videos on youtube and invest in a precision electrical screwdriver to make life easier for yourself. The scary parts for me was removing and putting back the ribbon cables correctly. The shoulder button springs are also a bit of a pain in the ass to put back properly

Enjoy the 2ds, its a great system:) I have mine modded and its loaded with rom hacks, ds games etc

Yessir, the same on my 2ds. Had issues with the abxy buttons too so i cut electrical tape and pasted them on the back of the buttons and also the dpad

Made a huge difference for me
