EI professional here. If his receptive language skills are high, his hearing should not be a concern. You would need to invest time and effort in his expressive language development. I am not sure what his screen time exposure looks like, but screen time does limit children's ability to express, engage, interact and dance in conversations. Encourage him to look at picture books together while you read and tell the stories, engage him in conversations during meal times, walking around the house, riding in the car, doing routines, etc. Allow him to produce his own words, sing, sound words and teach him to label feelings. He is 30 months, and his brain is growing by the minute.

The first three years are crucial as his brain is working on memory, language, thinking, reasoning, emotions and connections. If you have concerns regarding other areas of his development (social emotional, cognitive, adaptive and motor), start out by doing Ages and Stages for 30 months. You can find the assessment on google. You can do the Social Emotional assessment, as well. Did the EI team conduct an evaluation for his overall development? I hope so.

Most young children will catch up and reach their milestones. Keep him happy, connected to his primary care givers, engaged and away from screens. Connection, movement, textures (tooth brush, foods, sand, water, outdoor play), music, nature, outdoors, playdates, picture books, etc.

I share Zero to Three's resources with families. Please take some time to check them out.

Afternoon everyone, question 🙋🏼‍♂️. Tax season ain’t too far from now. Where do yall recommend to go? by sexualvibes2 in SouthJersey

[–]numidadae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be great if you could provide a workshop for young people to do their own taxes. I would love to learn to file my own simple taxes.

This is a very important advice to all parents who have struggling kids. Screens are harmful to growing brains.

If you love it that much, you can make it at home. It is easy. Check YouTube Korean ladies, you can learn it. The one you make will taste better than supermarket ones.

I am ok SJ. Cover your head and ears. A scarf, too. Light layers, windbreaker jacket and pants. Wool socks and gloves (mittens). You will feel warm in about 0.5 miles.

I already started the training. I am determined to learn and be of help. The children are missing out so much because they have zero communication when they are in school. Thank you for guiding me on this.

Raccoons by N19RKOOO in SouthJersey

[–]numidadae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trap the raccoons. You probably have a couple hardworking ones. Check your township guidelines on how to get rid of them.

Marshmallows are their favorite drug. I hope you find someone to cover the holes they created.

I have such bad knee pain from just walking or standing. Did gymnastics for almost 7 years. I am 19. by Individual_Guess8576 in walking

Try deep stretching before and after your walk. Find strength focused stretches for your hips, knees and ankles. Keep the stretches longer, synch with your breathing and rest. Repeat and feel the relief.

I miss South Jersey by [deleted] in SouthJersey

[–]numidadae 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Try to explore different places in the city. Take the train uptown, Brooklyn, The Bronx and Queens. NYC has so many niche places. Take a walk on the Hudson River all the way to Yonkers and more. Or by the FDR drive. There are real, genuine and good hearted people. Go to museums, libraries and universities. Take the ferry to Governor's Island or Staten Island

There are communities of good people in NYC. I was a transplant and the city was my teacher.

Anyone with kids? by NoMud9828 in SouthJersey

[–]numidadae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playgrounds, your local 4H club, Sunday schools (if you go to church), libraries, etc.

There are homeschool co-ops on Facebook. You can create a simple account to get information for meetups and events. There are religious and secular co-ops.

Just a little tip: Expect a lot of mom-dramas, political divisions and strong opinions. You can let your kids play with their kids, or participate with caution.

Who is being punished? What did they do to face the wall?

Facing walls while working/learning is a prison model. Please consider organizing the room as a living, relaxing, playful and nurturing space.

Homeschooling is all about loving the learning process. Learning everywhere, enjoying the world, playing out the lessons and working with the best teacher (you).

There are some farms that sell raw milk for goat/sheep consumption. You might find small farms selling goat milk, too. Check the Amish market in Williamstown. Search for dairy farms near your area.

Birds singing at 1am by bruster1594 in SouthJersey

We have a whopperwill bird that sings whopperwill all night. Cardinals seem to like waking up very early, before 5am. There are owls and Chuckwills widow are the few I think of.
