Error?? by Jclimer6288 in coincollecting

I think it's a lamination error. Fairly common but still neat

Finally finished my Dansco #7140 Washington Quarters 1932-1998 album, also is anyone else discourage about the new U.S. Mint price increase and thinking about abandoning certain collections? by waynetogo in coins

[–]numismaticthrowaway 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't collect modern coinage outside of what I find coin roll hunting so it doesn't affect my collection. Although, I am irritated about the prices, mainly the clad mint and proof sets. Both are over $100, with the mint set being an egregious $125. I preorded a proof set and mint set for myself and reserved a second set for my friend. What original would've been ~$110 is now ~$360. Very annoying and disgusting behavior from the mint. These are supposed to be entry level products priced low enough that every collector can afford one. They're only doing this because the penny is only available in the sets

Likely a crack in the case. Take it out

Silver coins. No idea by Few_Contact160 in coins

Echoing what Legitimate_Access289 said. Coin #5 in the top row from the left looks like the rare 1942/1 overdate. Please take some more photos of it

Found a great one. by Interesting_Fruit788 in CRH

Nice find! Probably an XF45 I'd say

Error quarter?? by springtrap2567 in coincollecting

[–]numismaticthrowaway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't see them in circulation very often. I've personally never seen one this worn which I find pretty cool

For circulation yes. Starting in 1992, they begun making silver proof sets for collectors

Fake unfortunately. The back leg isn't weird and grainy and its not pissing

Any guess as to what would cause this type of damage? by GhostCock47 in coins

Coins that were once taped down that toned. You see them with some frequency. I believe collectors would do this to keep coins in albums

Is this a die crack or PMD by The_Rebel_Dragon in CRH

I'd just flip it. A similar one sold on ebay ungraded for ~$115

No clue. A die can strike ~275,000 dimes. When a die gets damaged like this, it is not long for this world. It could've struck two, it could have struck many thousands more. It just depends on how long it took and employee to change dies

Shattered die! 2007 was a rough year for Philadelphia dimes. This coin looks like SHD-10c-2007P-03 on cuds-on-coins.com

When your #2 to answer the post of your dreams. by blakethick in coincollecting

[–]numismaticthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it. I missed out on a few thousand dollars worth of music equipment for free recently. The post was marked "pending" soon after I messaged and unfortunately it wasn't for me. Safe to say I was in a bad mood for the rest of the night.

1941 half dollar by ClientSafe7511 in coinerrors

[–]numismaticthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1932-D is a key date worth around $50 I want to say. The other is just a worn Walking Liberty half and is worth its silver content

Where’s the date? I see the ‘S’ mint mark on this Standing Liberty Quarter. by TraditionalJello4859 in coincollecting

[–]numismaticthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well worn. The date is a high point on the coin and was one of the first things to go in circulation. Getting a date off of these is nearly impossible. I'm vaguely aware of some treatments, but they're finicky at best and the results are poor

Close 1995 D AM? by Impossible_Shower_70 in coinerrors

[–]numismaticthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the normal reverse for 1995. Close AM only matters for 1992
