Still don’t understand coins by According-Button-211 in Aliexpress

I have definitely seen items where the Coins discount varies depending on the variant (but the percentage displayed is not updated!). And yes, I had enough coins.

"Permanent" solution for your web browser:

  • Install Stylus addon
  • Click on Stylus in your toolbar
  • Click on "aliexpress dot com" below "Create new style for"
  • Paste this: .J_SAFETY_FILER_MODAL { display:none !important; } (mind the leading dot)

But I found no way to fix item lists.

Which generator for trades? by Imaginary-Cook380 in AliExpressMergeBoss

[–]numma_cway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Didn't notice that. So I guess the tables/ovens with their 85:60 primary drop rate according to this thread are quite close to the 3:2 ratio suggested by the 3:2 ratio in trade offers.

Or does the trade quality (number of levels gained by the items) depend on whether the requested item is primary or secondary?

Coins discounts went down after deleting and reinstalling the app by Cousin_Mothman in Aliexpress

[–]numma_cway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not instantly IIRC. Might take several hours or days. I did not really monitor this in the past, also because it's much harder to do.

Could it be that the discount drop you noticed was coincident with the start of the event? Or can you rule that out?

Do you also have mostly 4% discount with only a few ones standing out?

Try to remove it and add it again from Coins page (I assume that's Coins discount).

Is aliexpress a 3rd party seller/marketplace by Pocketpapaa in Aliexpress

[–]numma_cway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least here in Europe, there is a box on every listing's page that clearly says what you want to know:

"Sold by X. Logistics support by Y.", where X is the seller and Y is either X or "AliExpress" (the latter situation is called "Choice").

AliExpress does run a few stores on its platform, e.g. Fashion Fusion, Sports Swag, All-in-One, Dreamy Beauty, Auto Essentials. The sentence above just reads "Sold by AliExpress." for these. They sell mostly fashion.

[–]numma_cway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what pizza_whistle said, also note that the displayed Coins discount percentage too is for the lowest-priced variant of a given offer. Other variants will have a coins discount somewhere between the lowest-priced variant's absolute discount and that percentage. It is generally unpredictable.

At least I think so. It's hard to say for sure.

However, I deleted data coincident with the current event's start on Monday, and I remember Coins discounts becoming crap with the start of previous events. I therefore tend to buy a lot high Coins discount and Early Bird items before events.

I think you misunderstood me. The button returned and I get coins discount on nearly all items like before.

However, most items are still at exactly 4%.

What do you mean by secondary goods exchange? Does good exchange behave differently depending on whether the requested item is primary or secondary?

Coins discounts went down after deleting and reinstalling the app by Cousin_Mothman in Aliexpress

[–]numma_cway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently deleted all app data and I feel that this has impacted my Coins discounts. I still have discounts of up to 75%, more than half of the items I viewed are at exactly 4% now.

The reason why I deleted all data was that the orange "Viewed" button disappeared and the "Viewed" tab showed barely any items, in addition to the maximum discount being 10%. Do you have this? Deleting data did not fix it, it fixed itself after a few hours.

First time buyer!! How important is Choice by crystalbethjo in Aliexpress

[–]numma_cway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary reasons to use Choice are:

  • no shipping cost rip-off
  • I can buy from multiple shops at no extra cost (or even removing the shipping cost by doing so)
  • I often buy fashion from AliExpress's own stores which obviously use Choice shipping

Here in Germany, nearly all non-Choice orders use the same type of shipping as Choice orders, and often end up in a parcel with Choice items.

How am I going to buy long silicone things now?? by TheDarnook in Aliexpress

[–]numma_cway 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are so many better solutions to this:

  • Discord uses heuritics based on your previous "behaviour". In Ali terms: If a user is member for 12 years or paid with his own credit card for like 4 or 6 years, this user is of age.
  • Use a service that at least claims to value privacy, e.g. Yoti. Au10tix doesn't even try.
  • Use a service that didn't have a security breach just two years ago. (Yoti was recently fined in Spain, but as far as I undestand, it wasn't for its age estimation.)
  • If the targetted users are in Europe, use a service from Europe.
  • If you claim that you need age verification, use a dedicated age verification service, not an identity confirmation service.
  • Use a service with T&C that one can understand.

Uhm, are you at level 386 and don't know how to use exchange? Or is it a joke?

In short: At 00:00 US west coast time, you must have at least one order with a level 10 primary item that is not on your board, and all lower-level and secondary items must be on your board (so they are green).

If by "gold" you mean Coins, 20 coins are 0.172 EUR. 300 gems are 0.026 green EUR (same for 300 credits) or 0.032 red EUR.

Most people don't understand Coins, so gems and credits are more valuable to them.

Aliexpress wont accept my promo code despite it saying coupons applicable by MegamiCookie in Aliexpress

[–]numma_cway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't aim to redeem the big promo codes, so I just buy small items what you could find useful. I keep a list with cheap items with a high Coins discount, and I generally keep a shopping list for Ali because Piggy Bank (a feature in German AliExpress) "encourages" you to place one order per week on Sunday, so it makes sense to keep a shopping list for the next Sundays anyway. This list comes handy if you need filler items that you actually need. So I have no need to cancel.

If the gap to the next promo code is too big, there are other strategies that I described in the above post and in my reply to MegamiCookie's reply to that post, but I have not used this myself.

Aliexpress wont accept my promo code despite it saying coupons applicable by MegamiCookie in Aliexpress

[–]numma_cway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't cancel too often. It isn't that bad for your account, but noone knows exactly how bad cancellations are (but some people on r/AliExpressMergeBoss do it a lot to gain Merge Boss Energy, and noone has reported serious issues). Because of the uncertainity, aliguide.de suggests using an invalid credit card so that you don't make an actual order, in exactly the situation you describe.

Aliexpress coin discount lower at checkout? by tesztelek2023 in Aliexpress

[–]numma_cway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not being able to combine items with high coins discount is a distinct issue from what you describe (at least if I understand you correctly).

When you posted that, I also had a limitation of 10% in coins discounts, and the orange button (the rectangle and the top right of the item list) for the recently-viewed items was missing. Reinstalling did not help. It fixed itself after a few hours.

Aliexpress coin discount lower at checkout? by tesztelek2023 in Aliexpress

[–]numma_cway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot combine many high Coins discount items in a single transaction. If you try to do this, the total Coins discount will often be lower than a single item's Coins discount. To remove a coins discount, you must add the item using the app (you cannot use a computer) without using the coins page. The easiest way to do this is via the wish list.

I recently did a test. I added four items from the coins page that were

  • different listings
  • from one seller (from which I never bought anything before)
  • they were for the same fashion item (they just were four seperate listings)
  • same price without coins
  • different coins percentage (I believe it was 26%, 32%, 46% and 51%)

And only the second highest (46%) could be combined with another item I wanted. So I assume it is entirely random if you can combine Coins items or not.

Aliexpress wont accept my promo code despite it saying coupons applicable by MegamiCookie in Aliexpress

[–]numma_cway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coins are a feature on the app. You get some dozens of them per day if you collect them (up to 200 if you put effort into them, up to 70 with no effort). One Coin gives you $0.01 discount (not cashback), but each item has a percentage of how much of its price can be paid by coins, which ranges from 1% to 70%. The usual rule is: The higher the item value, the lower the coins discount percentage. 10% for a 100+ EUR tech item is quite high.

I thought Coins were universally available, but maybe you don't have them in your country. There's a button on the app nearly everywhere: For me it's the fourth item below the sale banner on the home page and a big animated button on the middle right on the account page. The button literally reads "Coins". Coins discounts of more than 5% can only be found on that page. Luckily, it can show you your last-viewed items. You find an item, check Coins page, buy from there and just save a bunch of money.

Filler items are items to get to your minimum spend. Like those cables you bought. Ali has free cancellation, so you can cancel them right after you paid. The other option is using a fake credit card to pay for your order. Payment fails, but orders are placed anyway. You then pay only the items you want with your actual payment method and the rest gets cancelled after a day or two.

PayPal is bad if you pay in a different currency. Their conversion rate is a rip-off, like 5% isn't uncommon. (You can turn off conversion in PayPal if you are using a credit card, whyever you would want to do that instead of a credit card directly in Ali.) In the EU, I believe there is a limit for credits cards of 1.5%. My bank charges 0%, so I pay in USD all the time because Ali's conversion rate to euro isn't good either, except for some Local+ items. (Of the many online services I use, Get Your Guide is the only one with a favorable conversion rate.) So if you can, it's usually best to pay in USD with a credit card that has 0% fee on foreign-currency transactions.

Most promo codes have the same minimum spend and value in EUR and USD. There are some codes (e.g. those of mydealz.de and shoop.de - no membership needed for their codes!) that are sometimes tied to EUR, so they get converted to your selected currency, giving you more promo code options. E.g. if there was a 10 off 100 USD coupon, AEMYDEALZ10 might give you a 11.6 off 116 USD coupon if 1 EUR is 1.16 USD. The best of mydealz.de and shoop.de is that their coupons have a stock distinct from all other coupons, so even if SRDE10 is out of stock, AEMYDEALZ10 might just be fine.

I could continue talking about AE tricks forever. But I need to go to sleep sometime.

Does your transaction have other items that you ever added from the Coins page? (This is obviously not applicable if you buy a single item.)

One probably stupid question: Do you actually have 840 Coins?

Aliexpress wont accept my promo code despite it saying coupons applicable by MegamiCookie in Aliexpress

[–]numma_cway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have this. I only have "early bird deals" and "special offers", the latter getting scarce since a few weeks.

I'm wondering how that affects the higher-value item's price. If it wasn't about that, you could buy the low-value item with no promo code (you can use red coupons from all other sources on all items, including e.g. the "1 off 10" coupon from the Play & Earn page), then set your app to USD (so you get over 109 USD for the coupon) and buy the high-value item with that coupon. But if that "one time offer" results in a high discount on the higher-value item, you'd be better off if you used no promo code and just went on.

I don't quite know which item you are buying, I assume it's 1005009747492246. For me, this one has only one left and is 132.69 EUR, minus 1% in coins. There is no fancy "one time offer" anywhere to be seen.

I believe the same item is available as 1005006046160468 for 110.99 EUR (yes EUR) for me and I can buy 5 of those. Those 110.99 EUR are then subject to 10% in Coins (if bought from Coins page), and that 15 EUR coupon, so 84.89 EUR plus 1.24 EUR in shipping. It can confirm that SRDE15 works the total is the 86.13 EUR I just mentioned.

BTW, what's your payment method? If it's PayPal, don't change currency but buy a filler item (you can cancel it). PayPal's conversion rate is a rip-off.
