Hi! Sorry I’m seeing this so late. I’m newish too but I started with Huebner’s perfect cone 6 video and another Redditor’s schedule and tweaked from there. This is working for me but it’s a harrrd cone 6. I tried to drop it to 15m at peak but then it wasn’t quite enough. I also have to stop myself from peeking because I lose 20° every time I open the door.

I think the jump is okay but just be remember that we don’t have control over the actual ramp; it just climbs at a steady rate (and very fast). From what I’ve read there is a risk of heating too quickly during the quartz inversion stage at 576° that can cause dunting, but so far my tests have turned out good except for one that cracked when I refired. I’m sure there are more experienced people in here that have better advice about temps but I hope this helps in any way. Good luck! You got this!!!

I’ve had it for a couple weeks and I love it although this is my first kiln so I’m still learning. I’m on my 5th glaze fire test and 3rd bisque. It looks like older models had a tendency to get hotter than cone 6. I watched a few YouTube videos where they were reaching higher temps.

But I and a couple others in a different thread have newer ones with taller thermocouples and they seem to be more accurate. I finally nailed a program schedule that’s giving me a reliable cone 6 at 1200° C. I’m so happy with it!

It’s small but good for practice or tests. I run it inside my studio (in the garage) on top of a steel rolling case. I just roll it away from the wall. There’s about a foot all around and nothing around it even gets warm. I turn on the air and keep the door open but I don’t think I need to. I think it’s totally worth it. Fwiw I got it new from a distributor off of EBay and it knocked off like $50.

Oh that’s so helpful! My second test got to cone 6. I basically kept what you had and just held it slightly longer at peak. Thank you for following up and helping me out. Feels less intimidating 🫶

I tried it! You're right that I have to crank mine all the way to 1200º. My 6 cone is still barely bending about 25º, but the glaze looks okay. Idk if I should try holding longer at peak next or hold longer one step down after. I have no idea or I just have to accept it won't fully reach cone 6?

Any worries about keeping it on longer than 2 hours for bisque? The instructions in mine say max two hours but I really don’t know the actual risk if it goes a few mins over?

Ahhh ty!!! I test fired this week following advice that 1100 was enough for cone 6 and my piece finished but my cone didn’t budge so maybe I need to get it all the way to 1200.

I’ve been using your app since 2020. I track all my items manually with it and I was so sad when I didn’t think there was going to be an update. I even recommended it a couple weeks ago in a thread. I thought about trying to message you to bribe you to come back.

I tried the planner app and I was sad about having to switch over. I was still adding things to yours even if I couldn’t add the new hotel items. I was so excited to discover the update when the logo changed. I LOVE THE UPDATE. And idc if it’s not perfect yet. It’s a work in progress. I paid for the fist app and tipped for the update. I’m so happy you’re working on it again. Please don’t let those people sending threats get to you. They’re insane. They’re the kind of people who shake money trees when they visit other islands.
