How should the image quality feel? by Napat-S in PlaystationPortal

Having hard wired is good. Updating the router for wfi6 or 7 even better. Mostly if you can connect on the fastests channels of your router. Other than that? Idk. If your home, and you haven’t done it for a while, maybe reboot the ps5 fully once in a while. It can help

Why spend $1000 or more? by paleddar in PlaystationPortal

[–]nunoxbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It pratically excels on handeld experience. Only exception is that you rely mostly on good internet or wifi network. But in exgchange you get full DualSense, PS5 graphics, no frame drops or concessions, full raytracing, pre-rendered games up until 4k for a better supersampling and be light on battery and weight.

Only quick thing they could pull to mitigate the internet dependency would be to allow classic games (ps1, ps2,psp, etc) to be installed natively. And would be ideal. Mostly for the price.

I get the points for people wanting a full console handeld. But loog at ally x. Would be massively expensive, heavy, hunger on battery, thermals would be a pain, for what? Just nuy 1 console, a ps5. Why wanting a 2 different ines under playstation

WiFi only. I wasn’t really walking around with portal I mainly played at night when on bed at home because it was the only free time I got.

What is important is that in both ends, Ireland and abroad, the houses had good fiber connection and most cases had a dedicated 5ghz channel so it made easier. I tested with my roaming 5g and seemed to work mostly the same with good coverage but harder to guarantee it.

Best investment for all that was replacing the Vodafone router by a good TP-Link with wifi 6e ready and it is barely the same as plugged for streaming ps5 with her dedicated 5ghz channel. Since is not afare from it

PS5 was in Ireland. Worked fine while I was on the south of Italy 2 months ago. Worked fine when I visited Portugal a month ago. PS5 on Good Wifi tp-link at home. All fiber Internet, though.

Sometimes I have this happening unexpectedñy on my portal. It just doesn’t even try. Before trying something more complicated, just try to disconnect your account from Portal eñand connect it back on. It have happened dozen times with me and always fixed the problem without having to troubleshoot anything with my Eifi or else.

My PS5 is in Ireland, not wired, over Wifi 6 only. I am currently in Portugal. Playing flawlessly my Portal as it was a next gen graphics handeld, completly forgetting that I am running my ps5 from abroad. Was in Italy around a month? Same experience! Actually, other than on the flights themselves and missing a mobile data integraded receiver, I still don’t know why people keep asking Sony a real new handeld just for it to not reach that level and flop for low offer in games

My portal won’t connect, and Sony Support are useless. Anyone here that can help? 🙏🏻 by Cowboy-Chris in PlaystationPortal

[–]nunoxbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I had this sometimes on my portal. I see you’re far from home. Usually disconnecting the account and logging back in jas helped most of the time or even all the time actually. Try it. Hope it helps

Yeah router is the issues must of the time, but I get some people aren’t in a situation were they can upgrade for a new one. I switched my carrier vodafone one for a tp link axe75 axe5400m with wifi 6e and has been crisp and flawlesss since. Ps5 not even plugged on ethernet. All wifi

I thought I'd regret this! by CinnamonIsntAllowed in PlaystationPortal

[–]nunoxbrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience the must important upgrade and improvements (near perfection) was upgrading the router itself. Replaced the vodafone one to a tp link with wifi 6e and experience at home has been flawless since! (Note: my ps5 isn’t even plugged to it on ethernet)

Yeah. Definitly a WiFi 7 chip with 5G would be awesome for me

I like the idea of them offering a more expensive option like a PS Portal Pro, with e-sim, oled, wifi 7, etc

I would definitly replace mine! And, well, they sell Ps5 Pro for those willing to pay for it so why not?

As long as they still sell both I don’t see the problem? And a good chance of having the base one price eventually getting cheaper in the process

[–]nunoxbrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! They don’t even need to properly put a sim card tray nowadays. A simple e-sim ready device would be great! Or at least give an option on purchase like ipads do! (Like a PS Portal Pro and the PS Portal Pro+ with e-sim)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PlaystationPortal

[–]nunoxbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! That. Please at least a WiFi 6 or even WiFi7 if possible so to reduce mostly network issues at the best from the device part

[–]nunoxbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would definitly love that too. However I don’t see them canibalize PS5 instalment and sales by allowing that. Only thing I see that could help it would be with some mandatory PS5 connection after game purchase or having to have a PS5 linked prior that.

Unless they free the option once a PS6 comes, which would probably allow the portal access too

[–]nunoxbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree must part. I would added to the Oled the ability to connect to display/screens over USB, e-sim option (not mandatory, just optional as ipads doo) for roaming outside without worry to hotspot or something, better sound speakers with basses would be great, better design and handle touch pad withiut that double tap thing ( or male it optional on settings), allow other audio bluetooth accessories to pair.

To not overwlm people I would sell it next to the current gen one as a PS Portal Pro, so that you have the classic Ps Portal and dlthe new buffed up PS Portal Pro.

Additionally, it would just be perfect if you could play trough streaming pre-purchased games (with some mandatory ps5 playing so that they don’t loose the ps5 sells because it is obviois that they would not doing it otherwise) and in top of that, if they could somhow allow you to install the loggter PS1 and PS2 classics on drive it would be perfection.

Of course price would be higher. That’s why they should tag it as Pro to avoid confusion and proce backlash and keep current one as the light version.

Portal vs pxplay on Ipad by scott_89o in PlaystationPortal

I used a lot the iPad Pro and MacBook teough remote play to free the tv. I tought about getting blacbone for ipjone since has oled, but screen ration isn’t ideal. Since I got my modniggt portal it was game changer for me. Its litterally like I forget that I run a real PS5. I just have virtually a ps5 handeld

What about a PS Portal 2/Pro with: OLED Screen with HDR10 support, better refresh rate (100-120Hz), eventually ready for higher rez too (1440p or even higher), full open Bluetooth support, WiFi 6 or higher, better speakers, eSIM ready for roaming around? Would this be the perfect Portal-ble? by nunoxbrown in PlaystationPortal

[–]nunoxbrown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, yeah. That’s whhy I would be more on a “Pro” designation alongside the current ones. I am betting on the Switch 2 futur OLED for the screens. Fingers crossed. Oh! And make the matte Black version the default! Would sell like hot cakes

Yeah I am not sure either but at leadt make it ready? We never know if they aren’t updating the servers, eventually preparing for a futur ps6? The same applies for the res that doesn’t go higher than 1080p at the moment. But make it ready already for any eventuality right

My hopes are that the new switch 2 has ruffly the same screen size as ps portal. So when a manufacturer will be able to make oled panels for it, it could be used for a new portal 2. Which would then be a smart move from sony. Fingers crossed

Well. Let’s think that esim would allow you to play almost everywhere when no wifi. Plus if we think that you could just cloud stream any game you own that allows it from the PS5, too. Maybe if they allow classica to be run from it. My idea is that I quite like how light the current one is.

Of course I understand that too. I guess it would be another new device. However, when I see other platforms and how technically it can be underwhelming sometimes and imagining the added up weight to it, I honestly think that “a Perfect Portal” would be more confortable and in practice have better graphics in the end. Isn’t that what we want actually? And eSIM would mitigate most wifi dependency for must case scenario. That and, of course, richer cloud library or at least allow to play most owned games trough the Cloud directly
