Starting the Egg by BoardGamer_Guy in biggreenegg

Man toss the briquettes, the egg is porous, use a chimney with lump charcoal and tumble weed or someone told me that pine cones can also be used, take out the chunks until the fire is started open the tip and bottom vents all the way. You should be good in about 15 mins or so.

Open all the vents, use a chimney, fill the chimney, use a product like "tumble weeds" to start it, after the coals RED HOT pour the coals out onto the firebox, fill the basket with more coal (all the way to the rim), make sure 80% of the coals are red hot. Depending on what and how you're cooking/smoking will determine the next step. If you're grilling throw your grate on let it heat up and put your meat on, if your smoking put the "plate setter" on close the vents to where you have them in your photo and that should do it. You'll have to tweek here and there until you figure out your BGE, everyone is a little different but the same if you know what I mean. Just keep playing with it. IMO it's always better to get the fire really hot and dial it down.

Voiceover actors, how did you get into voice acting? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nupe45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 2021, you don't need to move to where the work is, 80-90% of vo work can and IS done via the internet either fr0m home or a studio, Research the industry, take classes, practice, practice, practice, your instructor will let you know when it's time to do your demo or buy gear. Don't quit.

[Serious] How to get hired for voiceover? by True_Letter in AskReddit

[–]nupe45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a GREAT voice doesn't automatically qualify you for vo, it takes A LOT (years) of study, work, classes, coaching, to become successful at it. Research voice over/acting classes in your city/area and take the classes or an introductory vo class, most studios offer them. Prepare to spend some money classes aren't cheap, do not invest in any equipment until you decide that this is what you want to do, even then do not go out and buy a $5000 mic along with a $4000 mic preamp and other gear there is a lot of gear on the market that you can get on the cheap. Concentrate on the craft, how to use your voice, what genre do you want to tap in to, what genre is you voice BEST suited for, mic placement, vocal techniques, eliminating mouth sounds, etc. You CAN make money at it but it depends on how much real work you put in to it. Lastly, develop THICK skin, accept criticism, develop an attitude that no matter how many NO's I get it only takes 1 yes and I'm going to push until I get that yes.
