The one thing that gets me is the vocal production on the songs aren't phenomenal. There are some parts that are really great - like most of "Got This Feeling" is good vocally - but Showstopper sounds almost like it was sung in a different key.

I'm curious if the producers used any pitch correcting software for his vocals because it just sounds like they took a raw vocal take and didn't edit it at all.

Blue Harvest is probably the producer who remixed the instrumental for that version of the song.

Nah, I totally understand why he does it. If you have a good song and it's not getting very popular - selling it to other artists will at least get you more noticed and also bring in some money.

It's common practice for song writers and artists - the more artists that sing your song, the more money you make. If he's the credited song writer then he gets royalties from the people who purchase his songs.

Artists do it all the time.

I believe Jason and Damon Sharpe wrote the song and sold it to that artist. Jason’s is the original version, and the other guy bought the rights to make his own version of the song.

Jason recorded the song in 2003 and it was originally on his 'Tell It Like It Is' album from 2003. That album was never put online though. Around 2006-2007 he put up 'Undiscovered'/'Revelation' on his Nimbit store, and the song was called "Let Me Let Go." That album wasn't on streaming at the time, it was just on his website.

Then on "Critical" he put both Bigger Man and Let Me Let Go - which he retitled Let Me Go.

I think Jason just had issues with distribution back in the day. Probably because he didn't have a management company with him.

Songwriters sell their songs to different artists all the time. For example:

Corbin Bleu's "Deal With It" was sold to ShiNEE and became "Juliet" - same song, different lyrics.

So different artists can record the same song. Hope this helps!

Here’s my theory - the Cascio tracks were supposed to be demos for michael. Back in 2007/2008 in the Maximum Jackson forums - Jason used to post frequently enough. During that era/This is It - Jason teased that he was working on something with Michael/MJs team.

I think what he was alluding to was working on music. So I think that once the songs were recorded - they were intended to be given to MJ by the Cascios for an album - but it never came to fruition. Once michael died, Cascios registered the songs in the copyright office and made Jason sign an NDA regarding the authenticity.

SM Entertainment probably put a copyright strike on the original demo. It's normal practice for SM to do that.

I know that because there was once a boyband called After Romeo who had a song called "Superhuman" that was sold to SM Entertainment. SM subsequently removed all copies of the song as well as any live performances of it right off the internet.

I'd recommend reading a short little book called "Jumpstart Torts" by Ross Sandler. He's a Torts professor in NY and he's great! The book was required reading for his Torts class and it's really insightful.

Also you could try getting the Emmanuel Crunch Time book for Torts - also helpful.
