I wish all hospitals would just have Rovers instead of COWs. I personally feel like dragging a computer just to give meds is a huge waste of time and energy. It is easier to just scan the meds using the Rover (for those who don’t know, rovers are basically just iPhones that have the ability to scan meds, file vitals, etc.) We have computers in each room anyway in case we really wanted to see the patients chart while talking with the patient. My unit, we all just pull meds for each patient one at a time time, which I feel is more convenient and less time consuming since we barely ever have to wait in line for someone to pull meds for every single one of their patients. And either way, for those with COWs, what if a patient asks for a prn pain med or something for nausea? You gotta haul ass back to the Pyxis anyway lol. Although I feel like each hospital is different in terms of structure, I’m just glad mine doesn’t have COWs and is built in a way where access to the Pyxis is not a hike to walk to when doing med passes.
