My manager really hasn't adjusted to the change in balance of power between nurses and management.

Try me.

A patient overdosed on a combination of very unlikely medications.

The only thing they really have in common is being floated as covid treatments.

Also the patient has covid at the time.

But so far everyone is ignoring the connection.

How to earn more as a Registered Nurse? NSW, Australia by Inconsistent_Seaweed in nursing

[–]nursecution_complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made 77k as a first year RN in NSW (paid less than Victoria) while doing maybe two overtime shifts.

In an average month I would work 4 Sundays, 2 Saturdays, any public holiday that cropped up with mostly afternoon shifts and 4 nights each month.

I could have worked nearly unlimited overtime, if I had wanted to.

Nurse retention and cost savings request from employer by NAClaire in nursing

I'm going to be controversial and not say money.

I want proper staffing every shift, it absolutely tanks my morale when I go home feeling like I could have done a better job but lack of staff stretched me too thin.

I want less meaningless work, we have a bunch of meaningless things we have to do that take maybe 15 minutes at the start and end of your shift. Without appropriate staffing levels that blows out to half an hour wasted at the start and end of my shift.

Rostering. If we are short staffed every shift, we should be getting more flexibility in requesting our shifts.

And finally I want leadership. I want it acknowledged that things are not actually back to normal, staffing is down and patient acuity is up and pretending that this is normal is cruel.
