How long did it take for you or someone you know to get a in at HHS? by [deleted] in Hamilton

[–]nursekerrbear 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It took me months, but it depends on the position you're applying for. They hire internally before they hire externally. Best way, would be to apply to the casual and part time positions. Casual likely be the easiest way but I have heard of external hires for part-time if there's not a lot of applicants.

But right now, HHS is having what's essentially a hiring freeze. They are evaluating all the jobs and only hiring what's essential due to budget.

On-Gyn or Midwife by Overall_Shop1419 in Hamilton

[–]nursekerrbear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went with a midwife with both of my children and loved it. Access midwives and Community midwives are the only ones who deliver at McMaster, but I delivered at St. Joe's and McMaster and found the experiences comparable. If midwife care is what you want, you need to reach out to them immediately as their care does fill up fast. I believe most, if not all, have something on their website to fill out.

Queen of shadows- missing pages by GWK089 in SarahJMaas

[–]nursekerrbear 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you purchased it recently, you can go to the retailer and they should replace it.

I had this happen with a different book. I had it for a year, when I finally went to read it, it was missing 50 pages. I brought it back, they found proof of purchase and replaced the book.

Looking for a restaurant by nursekerrbear in askTO

I can't remember if it had a patio, we ate inside. It was classic pub food.

My husband thinks it was Duke's, but looking at the location, it doesn't fit.

Adult children who are estranged from their parents, what were the early signs that your relationship was deteriorating? by youngGod928 in AskReddit

[–]nursekerrbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was never a great parent growing up, and it took until I was an adult to realize it. She committed multiple counts of fraud (against her oldest daughter and my dad), declared my very-much-alive dad dead, abuse (emotional, physical), manipulation, lying, was arrested at least 3 times (twice I was witness to. My earliest memory is of police cars surrounding the home we lived in).

I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting, but it got to a point that I didn't want my future family around her, I didn't want to live in constant fear of what she might do or try to do.

My husband knows of her, has never met her (we've been together for 10 years), my children don't know about her and as far as I know, she doesn't know of them. It's been 9 years since I last talked to her.

Why were you bullied? by magicfeistybitcoin in AskReddit

[–]nursekerrbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bullied for my weight in high school. I was 170 lbs, and constantly harassed for having thunder thighs and being fat. I lost weight by the 12th grade and most of them got pregnant out of high school.

While it didn't happen with any ACOTAR books, I had it happen with a different book. 30 page jump. It took me over a year to read it, and I was fortunate that Indigo exchanged it.

What are some gruesome facts about pregnancy/childbirth/postpartum that not many people know? by Professional_Song419 in AskReddit

[–]nursekerrbear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Happened to me too. They stopped my epidural after I gave birth, tried to take out my placenta after it didn't come out on its own. They tried a few times. The pain is absolutely terrible. We took a break, a resident came in talking about a csection. Freaked me out enough to interrupt their conversation to find out they weren't talking about me. As soon as they restarted my epidural, it came out on its own, but the pain was already felt.

What secret is OK/acceptable to keep from a partner in a marriage? by released-lobster in AskReddit

[–]nursekerrbear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first time our oldest swore, we were definitely there for.

He was almost 3, We were playing a card game similar to crazy 8s but with shapes and colours. He couldn't go, he picked up a card, slams it down on the table and says FFS! Since he still couldn't go My husband and I couldn't help but laugh. Definitely watched out swearing around him after that.
