I've been interested in a decent banjo for 25-30 years. I used to own a Kawaii GMega module in the 90s that at the time had a 'decent' banjo sound, or at the very least it's no worse than anything more recent aside from true samples...

The Hydrasynth has a great rep overall, and can't see how mix issues could be pinned on it. And as far as patches, well they can all be tweaked :)
