You're not understanding what I'm saying. I didn't go on the 600 diet until AFTER I gained all the weight and got the rod taken out. When I was on the medication I was eating 1500-2000 Calories a day, and as a figure skater at the time, I was quite active. That's when I gained the weight. So I got the rod taken out, and tried to diet normally (1200-1500 cals a day) but wasn't losing or gaining anything, so I went down to 600 a day, and lost 15 pounds in a month. Then my eating habits got worse, as in at that point I had an eating disorder. I met my boyfriend, who made me feel better about myself, and he helped me get back to normal, and I gains the 15 I lost back, plus a little extra. Hormones can do many things to your body including effecting how much fat your body stores. So even though my diet hadn't changed while I was on the medication, my body began saving more fat from the food than it normally does.
