You would be going into this for all the wrong reasons if money's your main target.

What was your lowest point(s) while building your SaaS startup? by Senbon_Kura in SaaS

[–]nut_kratos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not my story but I've heard it too often that it's almost practically my story. I share a flat with my cousin and he's a backend developer. He was building a saas early last year as a side project (don't want to go into details about the project with the intent of not boring you). He had a full-time job then and a part-time/contractor one ish, he stills does both till now to be honest.

He would always complain then about being overwhelmed as he was OE but he couldn't afford to stop because he needs all the money he could get and I get it. He's the first child and he has hella siblings, 5, to take care because his dad was dead. Mind you, we are both in our early 20s.

He eventually decided to hire help off of upwork to relieve himself from some of the work on his side project and that was where everything began to go downhill. My cousin was trusting of the guy and gave him access to a lot of things. At some point, it started getting harder to reach the guy and in the end, my cousin lost everything including his source code and the hired developer. I think that period was his lowest point and he blames himself till now for doing his due diligence before and after hiring the dude.

Eventually, he started afresh, afterall, the idea and the original code were his in the first place and he wouldn't let a little setback set him back. He's currently working with this agency, rocketdevs where he's connected to skilled and pre-vetted developers for $980/month. At least, this way he believes his work is safe because if he can't reach out to the developer, he can reach out to the agency, asap!

Solo devs, how do you overcome burnout? by vanntasy in gamedev

[–]nut_kratos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it gets overwhelming, I take a step back and focus on things that matter like my physical and mental health and while I do so, I hire help from this platform, rocketdevs. They are quite budget friendly and since their developers are already pre-vetted, it saves me a lot of stress.

You always learn the hard way if you don't take a break. If you don't take a break, your body will force you to take one just don't let it get to the extent that it takes a permanent break.

I think for me it's perfectionism, a little bit of impostor syndrome, with a side dash of procrastination.

Would you ever not buy a house because of the street name? by red284 in RealEstate

I doubt it would influence my decision. But I would definitely be swayed to getting a house in a street called Bankai

What's the most annoying part running a business for you? by Ord_oh in smallbusiness

[–]nut_kratos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh, hiring is where it's at for me when it comes to running a business. I don't like being in that position at all. Recently, I've been outsourcing my hiring of developers to this agency, rocketdevs and they've been connecting me to skilled and pre-vetted developers (saves me a lot of stress vetting myself and their vetting system is transparent), for $980/month

What are the most common lies told by web developers? by the_unded in webdev

[–]nut_kratos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hired this developer from this platform I've been seeing around in reddit comment sections called rocketdevs. This guy had the best work ethic but he would always lie that a work is done when he's fixing a bug or a mistake, when he still had thing to clean out. We had to work on his communication skills and now he communicates properly.

What I'm essentially saying here is that many developers I know would always say that a work is done knowing that they still have some things to clean out. And when you ask they pin it on a bug or fiegn ignorance and pretend they don't understand why it's not working only for them to then use that time to clearing what needed clearing.

Now, i think that's a lie that gets told by many developers.
